Drafting a QB is a total crap shoot according to a Hall of Fame QB.

The elephant in the room is that the coach is usually going to have the biggest impact on whether or not the QB pans out. Theres outliers for sure but it certainly seems to have a real correlation 

if Zach Wilson went to the 49ers instead of the Jets I think his career would be going differently

People were ready to write off Tua before McDaniel came in. Trevor Lawrence looked like ass with Urban Meyer and looks like the next great QB with Pederson

 

gotta say this is rich coming from Warner though - has any QB ever been as fortunate as him? Comes in to a team with Torry Holt, Marshall Faulk, Isaac Bruce leaves and looks terrible in New York then ends up in Arizona with prime Fitzgerald and Boldin

I think in the next 10 years we're going to see a change in testing metrics for QBs. With advancements in VR and cognitive testing, things like going through progressions and decision processing speed will actually become metrics to judge QBs just like 40 speed and vertical jump.

Of course it is. But it's still by far your best bet of finding a franchise QB. They almost never hit free agency unless there are significant injury concerns. Trading for them is still a crap shoot, just ask the Denver Broncos. At least if you're drafting them you're not taking a salary cap beating.

Ya but 9/10 drafting they aren’t an NFL caliber QB. In fact I’m the top 10 we’ve had what? 3-4 successful QB’s since 2010? Enjoyable, a few more but actually successful and record worthy?

I wasnt sure if he would be GREAT but I thought he would at least be a good quality QB one day. Unless something drastically changes it appears he wont even be "good".

If that is the case then we definitely HAVE to have a coach who is a QB whisperer

Honestly I have no opinion one way or another. Except the entire huddle thought he’d be the next coming of (insert success QB). But the Jets are really where QB’s go to die.

I thought Lance had a much higher upside and not sure what has gone wrong with him so far as I havent watched much San Fran. Is Lance bad or just not been given enough room and time to grow?

Look at the top young QBs in the league. Mahomes, Allen, Burrow, Herbert... they're all high 1st rounders. What decently proven good young QB isn't?

Yeah, it's a crapshoot but it's your best bad bet.

Where was Jalen Hurts drafted? I never believed he would amount to much in the NFL and boy has he proven me wrong. Wish we had him every time I see him on TV
