Question regarding Fantasy Football

Quick question for you guys. i'm the commish in a 12 man fantasy league, where we have all 12 active, pretty good participants. However, since there is one more week to the playoffs, one of the teams in my league has decided what i feel is to give up on a match since he is not going to the playofsf by playing mostly backups against another team vying for a playoff shot. Since there are two other people also in the hunt, i asked him if he thought he was playing his best team, which he replied pretty much he can do what he wants.

Now, since this is a pretty strict league, i mentioned beforehand that everyone who joined needed to keep on being active even if they were out of the playoff race. This is also a league where we kick out the worst person each year to make sure that stuff like this shouldn't happen, but since it's the last week, he has no pressure of getting kicked out.

Now the question, I've already talked with him and he won't really back down. Do you guys feel it would be ok for me to kick him out of the league based on him not putting his best team forward, which what I said every team had to do every week in this league?

I'd say yes, it's not fair to the other teams in the hunt. Not much point playing all year to get screwed at the end. Is this a money league? One of the other leagues I am in, a guy "roster dump" and a week later another player done the same thing (then wanted his team back). That commish just refunded the money and it's now just for "fun" and those two will not be back next year. His problem, both those guys he has to for, otherwise he would have booted them. Either way the league was tarnished at that point. Good luck with what you decide.

no it is not a money league, but next year it will be. this guy is one of the guys who hasn't said he would do it next year, so there's also that. i'm halfway convinced to throw him out before Sunday and get one of my friends to play his team the rest of the way fairly....i'm not sure. I don't want the league thinking i'm doing this for my benefit, since i'm also in the playoff race and if alot of stuff happenned this game could be a decision maker, but i also don't want some of the guys to come to me saying this guy cheated and they missed the playoffs because of it....

no it is not a money league,

then quit wasting our time...you are already wasting yours....

err..sorry that was harsh. If he is intentionally taking a dive, kick him out. AND, take a vote of OK from the other members and let you take over this week and set his lineup.

Look, im the top scorer in one league, but have a crappy record. I still have a very slim chance of making the playoffs with 2 games left, but its slim. Anyway, i have a lot to be bitter about, but ill still set the best lineup each week.

Now go punch yourself in the balls for playing FF for nothing. ...oh wait. You dont have any!

j/k

Money would probably tear my friends and family league apart at some point.

Anyway, I think that you have every right to kick his jive out ASAP. It's really sorry for someone to throw a game because they don't have a stake in it, particularly when it's the last week of the season and others are vying for the playoffs. If you have clearly explained your position to him, and he refuses to budge, let the guillotine drop. As for setting his team, I think that the rest of y'all could come to an agreement as to who are the best players to start in order to get a victory (and if you can't, I'd be happy to fill in for the week ***smile***).
