They run mostly Cover 2 or Cover 3. They want to get pressure from the front 4. It's a stop the run on the way to the QB type rush. LBs are iffy, and the Secondary misses assignments all the time. It is getting better, but they were the worst to start with.

The Lions have a good offense, so I expect them to put some points on the board, which will hurt the Panthers because their ball control offense is not suited to play catch up and score lots of points.

It would be nice to have our full complement of CBs for this game.

But like I mentioned earlier. Our D is better than theirs. However, their O is better than ours.

It is going to be an interesting game for sure.

I would imagine we will get outcoached.  Their OC is pretty good and ours is McAdoo.....

Hence why I said their O is better than ours, but our D is better than theirs.

Their D is improving. But it was at or near the bottom almost all year. So improving, but still susceptible to big plays, and long drives.

The very Panther thing to do is:

beat Detroit. Lose to New Orleans

That way, screw draft position and playoffs at the same time and still Hire Wilks

the lions defense is susceptible to the run

a veritable trifecta of Panther fandom

So it was written, so shall it be done.

Yeah I wasn’t arguing. Just adding information to the post.

Sorry bout that. I guess this board has me on more of an edge than I realized. I wasn't trying to be rude. Hence is what the wife uses when she wants to make a point. So I guess I stole it from her, and threw it at you. lol

Agreed, he needs to hire an outside consulting firm.

It is a huge choice that will effect my expectations with the new crew. It's hard for me to believe our current people are well situated to make a great hire if we don't. Maybe it's better than Tepper going it solo but not enough to be optimistic about to me. Who is going to lead the charge? The guy who traded too much for Sam? The guy who did CMC's deal to prove how smart he is? Steve Drummond, Hurney's protégé lol. Pat Stewart, the guy so good we had to go get Morgan to offset his and Fritter's misses in 2021? I am not impressed with any of that at this time.

No worries.  It's hard to pick up tone and other things on a message board.

McCaffrey's deal was done by Hurney.

And Morgan was Fitterer's choice. He was always going to be here. The two of them joined the Panthers the same year within a few months of each other.

All the people I mentioned are Hurney people expect Fritterer. Hurney was the GM on the CMC deal but we had hired the rest expect Fritterer right? So they were part of the process I assume with Hurney as the head or did Hurney hire the cap guy and then not have him work on CMC's deal? That looks a lot like the Moore and Moton deals?

Morgan is the only one I didn't mention because he hasn't done any bad that I have seen in his first year here.

    • I'm not saying he should be working in the NFL. He did deserve some criticism as DC there. But Kyle Shanahan certainly did use him as a convenient scapegoat. Now there is no one left to throw under the bus. Anyways he could find his way back to the league in some capacity who knows. But he's old school and in the NFL you either adjust or you get left behind. All the same no hard feelings toward him he's a good guy.
    • he has barely suited up for 50% of our games.  It matters pending how much of our cap and resources go that way.  If he cost in the ballpark of a Surtain? No thank you.  Let someone else  And as far we know what happens when we let talent walk away or trade them…..that’s a mixed bag.   should we of paid Norman, Bradberry at CB? They probably had earned the right to be called better than Horn at that moment of the decision.  Do we regret that? Do we regret Star walking? Can take it back to Spoon.  Flip side is probably Peppers.
    • We need to get better in the redzone. And yes that is an issue that involves all the moving parts. Oline receivers QB and playcalling. But Bryce himself has to lead the charge on that or surely we could face another blowout in one of these upcoming games. Every team no matter how good they are is going to face an opponent that imposes their will on them and requires the same in response. Those are the games where we have got to capitalize on drives. Honestly I get the sense that the Chiefs on some level overlooked us.  So while I am pleased we were as competitive as we were it certainly remains to be seen if this was the beginning for something new or just an anomaly. I think that's a perfectly fair take at this juncture.
