What top HC or OC would want to come here?

Without a top QB in the draft and important positions to be filled, will $$$ and control be enough to lure top talent here?

What makes this place attractive to candidates with the ownership and front office that they have?

Rumor is now that Tepper may be looking towards Pittsburgh for an answer....Payton is not going to come here.

I just don't see the allure to coach here.

Getting a HC job is hard and in the grand scheme of things, pretty damn rare when you think about it.

Sure, a guy like Sean Payton can afford to turn down an opening because he's established.  But 90% of candidates can't afford to do that.  I wouldn't concern myself over who the Panthers could attract.

Eric Bieniemy?

I say him specifically because for years now, people have been up in arms about why he is not a head coach somewhere.

I have always thought it was possible that he didn't interview well. It is also not too hard to imagine that he is more than happy with his cushy job in KC.

Anyways, he has a great resume and may be a really good hire.

Doesn’t this question almost counter the tanking argument? Like, if we lose out and get the 5th pick, “we’re a joke” so no coach wants to come here. But if we go a respectable 8-9, seem competitive, then no coach wants to come because we don’t have a high enough pick to get the QB they want?

Uh what? Try googling ‘beinemey’s past’. If he was not a minority he wouldn’t even have a job depending if you want to keep it real or not.

All bad teams need a HC. That’s not an issue. The worst thing about coming here is dealing with an owner who has NO clue and does dumbass poo like chase after Watson and trades all your poo away. Among a billion other things.

As Sean Payton said, a good coach with options will not go to a dysfunctional franchise or sometime like that.

That was after he was asked the same question about bad teams and gave the same, any team needing a HC will need help.

So it’s not being bad it’s being dysfunctional and the panthers are a literally, living and breathing example of that.

    • I don't get the Hunter hate. Just imagine his ceiling if he stopped trying to be this 2way freak and focused on one side of the ball
    • 100%.  You have to play the cards that are dealt.  Not the cards you wish were dealt.
    • I'd say its definitely going to be addressed this off-season.  We went into the last draft with a roster of RBs including:  Chubba, Blackshear, and Miles Sanders. We picked Jonathan Brooks in the second and still signed Rashaad Penny afterwards.  Fast forward....One turned into a top 10 back, 1 is injured/out for most if not all the '25 season, 1 retired, 1 will either take a huge paycut or be cut, and the last is a restricted free agent. We brought in Mike Boone as well. Add him to the free agent list also.  We need a physical option.    Which qualifies:  Ashton Jeanty(Boise St): Overall ranked Top 10. Almost 2k yards after contact, 28 tds. Would take our first rounder. My money would be on an NFC East team selecting him. (97.2 PFF run grade) - 121 forced missed tackles.  Omarion Hampton(UNC): Ranked everywhere from 20 - 59 overall. Consensus #2 back after Jeanty. He'll be a second rounder. 1,222 Yards after contact w/ 15 tds.  (90.5 PFF run grade) - 72 forced missed Tackles Kaleb Johnson(Iowa): Ranked from 38 - 69 depending on which media outlet you prefer but generally #3. 2nd/3rd possibly. 1,060 Yards after contact w/ 21 tds.(86.7 PFF run grade)- 66 forced missed tackles Cam Skattebo: Ranked from the 50's - 104. Every mock I do he ends up BPA at some point. 969 Yards after contact w/ 17 tds(92 PFF Run Grade). Probably the best receiving back of the group. 81 forced missed tackles.  If the '24 and '25 draft classes were combined, IMO the rankings would be, in order: Jeanty, Hampton, Brooks, Johnson, Skattebo. I wouldn't take one high but I'd take one for Chubba and Brooks insurance.
