Attacking “glass half full” posters after a loss…

I can see both sides. I like to win any game we can, but I also see how that might not be good long term. What I wouldn’t to have Herbert at QB…

But it is really weird when a supporter of a team takes a loss and rubs it in the face of another supporter of the same team.

If I member right, RR won his classic pointless late season game(i think it was the saints) and that lost the draft spot for herbo...

so for the 935,588,389,385,088 time my golden rule was correct.

Do you not agree that teams usually have2 goals to start the year? One is to win the division, and the other is to win the SuperB owl?

That's fine. Write history now. I on the other hand would like to see how this all plays out.

There are a lot of you guys on here. You've written the history in your head, and you want others to go along.

There is nothing in the past, nor the future where it is written this team cannot be successful.

It probably won't be.  At least not this year. But can we at least let it play out?

All this from an innocent statement?

Of course the goal is to win the Division and win the SB. If you asked a player if finishing 6-11 or 7-10 and 1st in the division is "winning" it, I highly doubt they would say yes.

I also look at the way this team has played and who they are going to have to play to make a Super Bowl run and I don't see it happening. Currently the odds are +40000 for this team to win. Vegas is right more often than fans are. Maybe the Panthers defy the odds, but we both know that's not likely to happen.

Enjoy the ride if you want to. That's your prerogative. I want this team to have consistent success. If it takes losing to accomplish that, I'm OK with it.

I get the reasoning 100%. It’s the “haha, we lost, in your face” that baffles me.

Winning begets winning. And losing begets losing.

People willing to trade losses this season for the chance that we might be great in 2025 havent looked their own mortality in the face.

Give me wins any day

You can win free agents. You can win draft positioning to help you win long term.

Then how come we didn’t dominate the year after going 15-1?

We couldn’t even carry over a good win in Seattle with a home victory over a terrible Steelers team

Anyone thinking we’re going to carry anything over from this season to next under a new coaching staff is brain dead

Do you call what the Panthers are doing "winning the division"?

I sure as hell don't. The goal is to win games which we are not doing. We can't even beat the teams we should.  We are not on our way to winning a SB. We are going to get embarrassed and hurt our future in the process.

You can say we're on track to accomplish the goal of winning the division and winning a Super Bowl, but are we really? From everything I'm seeing, the answer is a resounding no.

If they are not winning why are you worried about getting embarrassed in the playoffs. They won't even be there.

Let me see if I understand what you are saying here. Its a two part question so bare with me.

You think that if you could not possibly win a game you do not want to play the game because you will lose and get embarrassed?

Do you want the team to have that mindset?

My logic is that QB is the most important position in football. If we pick high we have a better shot at the guy we identify as our guy. When you pick 24th you are at the mercy of the rest of the league. That’s my logic. As simple as that.

Again that assumes we go quarterback and with Corral  already here that might not happen this year. So no selling out to lose is a poor strategy and no guarantee you get the guy you want. Especially if we aren't great at identifying talent in the draft.

They're not winning with any consistency or beating any good teams and one more win may be enough to "win" the division at 6-11. That's not the definition of winning IMO. I think they could win 1, maybe 2 against bad teams and get in.

I'm not worried about them being embarrassed. I think if they somehow make it to Philly or SF, they're going to get absolutely blown out and that moral victory of getting a playoff game or even winning one is going to come crashing back to reality and the team will be in a worse position to fix the issues.

I also believe that getting to or winning a playoff game will cause us to keep Wilks and I don't think that's the right move either. We've done defensive coaches for 27 years and there's no sustained success. This team needs to move in line with the offensive pattern the league is embracing.

My genuine concern is Tepper will see division title and ignore the record. I'm also concerned he'll believe Wilks worked wonders with this team and ignore the actual teams they played. In any other year, this team would already be out of the playoff conversation and we would be facing the reality that we don't have any answers at QB, our OC is abysmal, and this team needs to find an identity.

I want the team to win. Unless this team makes the SB, I think the overall net gain from the experience of a 1 and done playoff run would hurt the team long term. It's a weird position to be in. I want the team to win the division, but this doesn't feel like winning to me. It just feels like masking the issues.

I mean this in the nicest possible way. I think you are worrying way too much over things outside your control. Football is entertainment. Just enjoy it for what it is. Huge athletic human beings doing some amazing things.

We MIGHT make the Playoffs, and we MIGHT even win a game. I see that as a plus. You see it as a negative. Same action, 2 different thoughts. Man I love this place.

The Powers that be have some huge decisions to make this offseason. Just sit back and enjoy the show. Cuz it could get crazy this year.
