You would be the one person in here that cares about a win nearly thirty years ago.. Such a clown

A bit harsh don't you think?

One, we've only played them 6 times since the 4-division format in 02.  Yes, we are 0-6 in those games

Two, A win is a win so technically he's correct.  How about Almost never win.

Third, that game wasn't just any game.  It clinched the NFC West title and playoff berth.

Finally, I was at that game, and it is probably the greatest sports event I ever witnessed live. It may have been 26 years ago and if you want to be more exact Thursday will be exactly 26 years ago. That game was a huge game for our young franchise and saying that someone shouldn't care is worse than making an issue that we haven't beaten them since.

Imagine the teams as two boxers, with Tomlin in the Steelers corner and Wilks in our corner. First, the Steelers came to fight, and, secondly, Tomlin was methodically giving out directions after every round. On our side, we got manhandled while Wilks didn't say a damned thing but, "Keep doing what you're doing, kid." No mention of counterpunches, not a damned thing. Wilks was akin to a spectator in the stands among a decidely hostile crowd.

It's like he threw in the towel after the first quarter, but the damned thing was black and gold.

Our roster was designed by that brilliant architect, Matt Rhule.  We've made some changes, but you are not going to transform a team that is physically built on the erroneous assumption that speed and athleticism matter more than bulk (especially in the lines) once the season starts.

This was always going to be a slugfest.  The Panthers can win a slugfest, as long as the team they are playing is not built for slugfests.  For the most part, the AFCN and NFCN teams are built to slug it out.

The Steelers committed to the run and stuck with it.  We know what that does to opposing defenses over the course of a game.  We couldn't run, the defense couldn't get off the field on third downs, and there was little we were going to do (successfully) to adjust.  Whatever that little was we could do given our roster, McAdoo was not going to find it.

If our coaching staff did not see this kind of game coming, then we have seen enough.

In short, the Steelers out-executed, out-prepared, and out-coached us.
