Long term? Sure, if by long term, you mean 3 or 4 years, wouldn't have a problem with it.

Big money, no.  About 4-5 million a year would be the most we should pay.  That would put him around 20th or so irt Running bay pay per year.

For you guys saying resign Foreman, if it comes down to resigning him or Bozeman, who do you choose and why? Remember the Panthers are still in cap hell next year because of chasing Watson and all that dead money from previous years.

Foreman doesn't have any kind of rare ability as a RB, and sometimes he misses wide open holes. He is a nice blend of strength and speed, but so are a great many of the RBs in the later round of the upcoming draft. Many RBs similar or better than Foreman will be floating around in free agency as well.

Resigning Foreman comes down to what kind of money he wants. Will he play for vet minimum or a little more? Ok fine. Does he want a long term contract with 7 figure years, then hell no. No way should he get that kind of money.

If it were me I would get rid of all our RBs and start over with new vets and or draft picks. Let's see if we can find a hidden gem, and make sure we keep our RBs young, fresh, and cheap.

Our blueprint should be to cycle through RBs quickly in order to save money. There are a great many RBs who would run very well behind our o-line, so we don't need a superstar. Just go get a jag who is decent at everything and don't resign him unless he'll take a cheap deal.

On our team I want young and cheap RBs and LBs. They get beaten to hell and they don't have rare body types, so you can cycle through them and easily and always find replacements.

The people you pay the big money and lock up long term are rare body types with rare talent. Find a guy who is 6'6 and 300 plus pounds and can pass block pro DEs is very rare so lock them up. A guy like Foreman is not rare at all by comparison.

He's a big, powerful guy who seems durable and those are hard to find. Everyone who says running backs are a dime a dozen wouldn't say that if we had Derrick Henry. Big, powerful, durable backs are not easy to find and it appears we have one. I'm not giving him CMC money but 3 years, 30 million or maybe a little less wouldn't upset me, especially if we draft some explosive receivers or a decent tight end who can take pressure off of the run and pass game.

Firstly, 

He’s not going to get a large or medium sized contract. Teams are fully aware you don’t pay running backs large sums of money anymore unless they look generational and then you have to hope their health holds up. He isn’t generational. 
 

Secondly, even if he wanted a big contract the market won’t allow for it this year. The Bears have like 120 million in cap space and then second is Atlanta I think at 71 million and then every else is under 60. That’s not a ton of cap room for running backs. 
 

Thirdly, he’s in an awful year to be a running back hitting the market. This upcoming RB Free Agent Class is absolutely stacked and he’d be valued at like the number 10-15 running back. Look at it. He can’t command a big deal. 3 million a year for 2-3 years is what he’s going to get.

Bro Im at or been at this idea for years- I dont even want to spend draft picks on RB. The FA RB market is full of great players for pennies on the dollar. Plus they get cut more than other spots as well.  Focus on the lines and draft at least one WR each year. Only if theres a RB with a 2nd round grade, then im for using a 4-6.

 

Talking out of both sides here- but I do love that texas stud, Id support panthers using their first 2nd round on him.

I can get behind just signing free agent rookies to super cheap deals.

I can't see taking a running back in the first two rounds. I might could be talked into a third round pick though.

I'd much rather use that money on Oline players and draft a fourth or later round RB and paying them a million or less a year. That or sign an undrafted free agent RB and paying him even less.
