Alternative options for head coach

So we've asked a generic question about Wilks versus whomever this morning, but I think it would be helpful to better define the "whomever".

If not Wilks, then who do we see as viable alternative candidates?

A couple of names I would start out with...

- Shane Steichen
- Frank Reich
- Ben Johnson
- Shane Waldron
- Demeco Ryans

(not necessarily all my preferred choices but viable options nonetheless)

What are the arguments for choosing one of these guys...or someone else?

Steichen and B Johnson are the hot ones.  Obvious crushes for many around these parts and on other HC needy team subs.

Demeco is league wide wanted, but we're craving the offensive guy right now.

Reich would be respectable, not my top, but could jump on board.  He has the connects and would get a good staff together.

Waldren is interesting but Carrol's crew has not been known to be the best when elevated minus one year for Quinn.

The problem I see with Reich is this:

The lesson of the Pittsburgh Steelers as the franchise with the most Lombardis is that head coach longevity is rarely done in the NFL, but is probably a good idea if your HC is at least competent.

Given his age, it seems unlikely Reich would reach the kind of tenure that Steelers HC's have enjoyed.

I would prefer someone younger.

    • I agree with you he is clear cut #1 CB and it isn’t particularly close. And I really like Johnson as well. WR I don’t think he is the best right now but most likely has the highest ceiling. His body control and athleticism is generationally elite. He cannot run routes tho lol he’s out there playing backyard. That can be taught, but I think he ends up a full time CB in the NFL
    • He is overwhelmingly the best prospect in this draft. There is zero question at all about this.  To suggest otherwise is being purposely ignorant.
    • If we had reporters covering this team who were worth their weight in salt, we'd know.  This is an lingering injury from 2021 that he re-aggravated week 9--He claimed to need surgery on December 12.  David Newton and Joe Person should be all over this until they have a response--which should take one phone call
