    • Trade Up in Draft to get a Top 4 QB
      25
    • Draft a lower ranked QB
      43
    • Pass on young QBs, re-sign Darnold & address other needs (DE, TE, WR)
      23
    • Pass on young QBs, sign FA QB (Lamar, Brady, Jimmy G, Daniel Jones, Geno)
      9

The draft capital needed for the best QBs this draft will be too high and frankly, they just don't excite me.

Corral is such a huge unknown, especially he had a significant injury. Too risky to put all our chips on him.

Darnold isn't starter material but the available free agent QBs are full of prior Panthers QB rejects or a questionable upgrade. Brissett might be the best bridge QB but he'll probably ask for too much.

So yeah, options don't look good. A lot depends on the direction we go on offense for next season. I'd say draft someone later in the draft that is a system fit and either keep Darnold as a bridge or swap him out for someone that doesn't break the bank. Then add more pieces elsewhere.

We have already selected a later round QB in Corral, and I don't want to try and develop two QBs at the same time. Focus on Corral for now so he gets the reps, and let him have his shot next season as the starter, with Sam or whomever as the vet backup. Corral has already been learning this season, and it's time to roll next season. If he flops, then that is more ammo to get rid of Fitt for another lost season. If he plays we'll, then we didn't need to spend that 2023 later round QB pick, and Fitt was right about Corral. If Fitt was wrong about Corral, then what would make anyone think Fitt will be right about another later round QB selection? These picks are extremely valuable and we already spent one on Corral.

Gong into free agency looking for a QB who will play for a prove it deal is much cheaper. The Mayfield move was actually a good idea because we're not on the hook for anything. Yes he pooped the bed, but we're not harmed by it going into next season. No harm in handing out another $5 million one year deal to a prove it vet. Just DON'T start extending QBs for $18 million that have not played a snap for us, and have proven NOTHING. That is poop brain Fitt's type of thinking.

That works well for you. I just don't want to have to quote someone just to throw a LOL at them. Just throw a LOL at them and move on.

You don't have to quote them to get your point across.  There's also lots of laughing gifs available if you so choose.

Gotta say, I find the continuous Minshew love...odd. If he was as great as Huddle makes him out to be, he'd be playing on Sundays now...not sitting. It's unlikely that Huddle has some insight that thousands of NFL staff members don't.

All that said, I'm on the record for trading to get the guy you want--not wait for one to fall to you. If we're only a QB away, then make the move and let's go.

Alternatively, find a way to accumulate capital for the '24 draft, roll with Corral, and then make a decision on chasing Williams or Maye if he looks more like Clausen.

I think it depends how a lot of this plays out tbh.

Does Lamar ever even reach FA? Is he tagged? If he doesn't get tagged I go that route. I don't love throwing 30+ mill at a QB but I like it even less than throwing 30+ mil AND trading several Day 1 and Day 2 picks to another team.

How far up are we trading? If we stick at 18 and one of the top 2 end up falling outside the top 10 I am on the phone trying to move up. I'm not trading several years of 1sts for Richardson or Levis. I would seriously consider taking either of them at 18 without trading up though (Richardson more than Levis)

I think if all 4 QBs are gone, we don't get Lamar in FA then I am rolling with Darnold and MC9 for a year and then making the decision with next years class if we want to go all in on a young QB. One more off-season/draft and nailing the HC and OC hire this team is a QB away from making noise. Whether that QB is Lamar, Corral, Young/Stroud or Maye/Williams next year remains to be seen.

I'll let the new coaching staff and our front office make that decision.

Lamar Jackson sucks. Keep him far away.

There are no logical scenarios where it makes sense to re-sign him. Maybe vet minimum 1 year deal as a backup but that is also a stretch with a new coordinator.

If Sammy Franchise wins the Superbowl this year and brings us a ring you'll resign him.

It doesn't matter how we finish this season or what pick we have in the draft. We definitely need a veteran QB who can start, for next season. If Darnold proves himself the rest of the season, this can be Darnold, otherwise we need another QB from the roster of weak starters or good backups. As a second QB you then have Matt Corral, who can compete with the veteran.
With this constellation you can go into the draft and try to get the QB you love. If you don't get him, you don't have to take any QB at all, but you can strengthen yourself in other positions.

It's not that he's a great QB. The Huddle just wants to know  Super Troopers GIF by Searchlight Pictures
