How to do a 180 degree turn around

Putting in Bozeman and choosing to run the ball down opponents throat seems like it would have been obvious even to an idiot like Rhule.

Wilks has done a great job since taking over and he’s playing to our teams strengths. We are running the ball well and playing defense. Not only that, but I appreciated the way he stuck with PJ and the way he later inserted Darnold to the top of the depth chart. He let PJ compete for the job and when he was no longer getting the job done, he went on to the next man up. Foreman has been amazing since taking over and this offensive line is going to be really special.

I wasn’t on the Wilks train for next season and I’m still not quite there just yet. But he’s starting to win me over.

Darnold is still bad (as the game went on he always looks worse and worse) but all others parts of the team held up and showed out. No question Wilks is doing an incredible job with not only the coaches that he has had to make his own (even after many have left) but also the players he inherited/ones that were traded away. He is winning despite having one of the worst QB rooms in the league. Props to him, he has me actually interested in watching Panthers football again. I did not care under Rhule, as it was some of the most boring, uninspired football that I have seen in our history.

Yeah, being able to win games with one of the worst groups of QB's in the last decade+ should be something that Tepper needs to make note of.

It's sheer insanity how long Bozeman was kept on the shelf because he was not one of the coaches favorites. How anyone can hate Wilks is bizarre. He may or may not end up being the permanent head coach but at the NFL level he's damn sure light-years better than big brain Rhule was.

Rhule will go down as a worse NFL coach than Urban Meyer when the dust finally settles.

100% how I feel. I’m not getting all invested with the team, but it is fun to watch.

Darnold was not good, but he has made great decisions when nothing is there (or when he doesn’t see anything there).

Taking sacks/throwing the ball away/using legs to buy time and not forcing the ball…I’ll take that from Sam.

He looks calm and more mature out there, even if the stats aren’t there, because the bad stats (turnovers) aren’t there either.

One major problem - "problem" - Sam routinely trusted receivers to make plays when he could have with his legs.  I actually think a few of those plays were on the receiver for not making, but at the goal line he really shoulda taken off and he had a couple first downs he could have had if he didn't throw on the run.

But the long pass down the sideline to Sullivan should have been a reception, but alas, our TEs...

Anyway, Wilks is clearly a legit NFL coach. Whether or not he is the best option long term, I'm much less sold on.

One of the biggest changes I've seen, regardless of QB, is Bozeman calling out protections, and effectively.  He is leaps and bounds better than most centers in the league and Rhule's choice of Elflein is probably the worst eval he had in the NFL.  DTs aren't collapsing the pocket which has been such a major problem since Kalil retired.

Because of this, Corbett and Brady are able to adjust quickly and those three have been doing a very good job together communicating and pushing the pile forward.

We need to find a QB pronto because this OL is a really good one.  The defense is great.

    • Yeah, this is the least talented defense in franchise history. Hard to beat him up that badly.
    • Some very rosy takes for a backup RB in his first NFL game versus an elite rushing defense.  I damn sure hope that you guys are right.
