amazing how much hate Burns gets around here. and yet Derrick Brown while improved this season is still looking not worth the pick we drafted him at.

Speaking as a fan of both players since before they were drafted here, the only metric by which Brown is better than Burns is one called Personal Bias.

I was saying it's likely we'll regret NOT trading Burns. I'm a believer in valuing draft picks due to the salary cap savings when you skew towards a younger roster.

You pay contracts like Burns is going to get when you're close and need just one or 2 more pieces to get you over the hump. When you're rebuilding, which we are, draft picks and salary matter more because you have so many needs.

When you need a HC, OC, DC, DT, DE, LB WR TE S C RB, T and let's not forget QB, over the next 2 years at least, 30m and 3 picks will do a lot to fill those holes. Maybe it works out, maybe not.

Just for thought, if Philly offered us NO 1st this year, Philly 2nd this year and a future 1st, should we consider it?

No. Most important position is Quarterback. second most important position is getting to the quarterback. which is why those 2 are the highest paid positions in the league.  not paying burns or trading him puts you on the hamster wheel of hoping you draft a guy as good or better than him with 1 of those picks in a year you dont know if there are going to be any good pass rushers.  you back at square 1 there and still looking for a qb like we are now.

Trading Burns wouldnt have helped as much people like to make it seem. you create another hole before you patch the first one.

30. Los Angeles Rams (4-10 | last week: 29)

The Rams were eliminated from playoff contention with their loss on Monday night to Green Bay. But that was merely a formality—this season has long been over for the reigning Super Bowl champs. Losing Andrew Whitworth and Von Miller in the offseason proved costly at the start of the season, and then key injuries to Cooper Kupp, Matthew Stafford, and others only made things worse. Returning to postseason contention starts with keeping the gang (e.g. Kupp, Stafford, Aaron Donald, Jalen Ramsey, and Sean McVay) together in 2023.

Yeah like they had a first round pick to give us this season. Bringing back Stafford and copper Kupp next season pretty much assures they wont be 4-10 the year after this one. your chasing fools gold.

You’ve answered yourself in this thread already. “He’s no Myles Garrett” (which is exactly the whole point) AND he’s “is what Reddick is”(once Again…dead on) are your statements.

Which is why it doesn’t make sense to pay a player 10M more than he’s worth a year. Reddick, Smith, Nwosu, Hendrickson, Judon and more. All for around 15M/year. And Burns is basically replaced. Now on top of 10M to fix another position. AND Three premium picks. That could be traded themselves for an QB or proven vet.  All to overpay a top pass rusher.

He isn't worth top money but he is still a good player. The fact we need to bring in a better DE to compensate for him really tells the tale of what we should have and should do with Burns.

Riddick is out there destroying the Burns is a exceptional player myth.

They were 3-6 with Stafford and Kupp before their respective injuries, Stafford may be getting dragged down by father time, their OL sucks, and they hand out draft picks like Halloween candy. Nothing is assured of course but odds look good that they won't immediately ascend back to the top tier of the league, if that.

I would slightly disagree, #1 is qb and #2 is protecting said qb with edge a close 3rd.  Now since we dont have a qb and its looking more and more likely we will not get a top prospect at least this year dont you think those 3 high picks could have gone a long way in solidifying the qb position, the one where you acknowledge is the most important in football?

And again, nobody is hating on him but you in particular are vastly overrating him as a player.  How many games in 4 years has he completely taken over?   As I said since sunday he was a detriment to the defense, he was a complete liability again in the run game.  Fat ass fitts is going to regret tremendously not taking that haul especially considering the rams are sinking faster then the titanic

The bigger point to the rams is that its now incredible likely that they lose both their star coach and best player next year.  A completely wasted opportunity to change the direction of this franchise

Stafford will be 35 in February and has a recent history of injuries. After 8 straight 16 game seasons, he has missed half a year in 2 of the last four seasons. One of his full seasons in the last 4 was in 2020 and we played them while he was clearly hurt and we shut them out.

Donald is going to be 32 before next season and he’s already missed more games this year than he’s ever missed. His QB hits, sacks and TFLs are down on a per game basis than any prior year.

They again don’t have a first round pick to refill the roster and they only have $3.5M of cap space in 2023. Amazingly, with only 27 players under contract, they are $9M over the cap in 2024. I’m sure the cap will jump up but Stafford’s 2024 dead cap is $36M. Man, if he decided to retire to avoid the abuse, he’d be an almost $50M dead cap charge.

The assumption that the Rams are going to hop right back on the 2021 bandwagon may be fools good as well. I’d bet that without another 1st, not a lot of cap and their key guys being 32 and 35 and having injuries that they are more likely to be closer to this year than pick 32.

Their division will be tough too. SF is better now and looking to stay on top and Seattle also looks likely to improve especially with picks 3 and 15 this year in the 1st and 2nd rounds. Those are pick 3, 15, 35 and 47.

they wouldnt have even had a 2nd if they traded with us, they were desperate at the time and making a push to go all in for 2022.  They would have had a 3rd and a 6th and no cap space.  Dumb ass fitt was too stupid to figure this out.  It blew up in their face and fitt got caught playing with his dick.

The Rams are an excellent case study here. They sold out to go big in a short-window Super Bowl push. It worked (could have easily failed) and now you'll see what happens to a roster that does not have rookie contracts and/or ring-chasing vets.

They are going to the bottom of the pile. Right next to us.
