He can throw a football so even if he bust he is 100% better than Clausen who had trouble throwing an NCAA ball lol.

Clausen had Michael Floyd, Golden Tate and Kyle Rudolph…they made him look 100x better. Unbelievable talent around a mid (at best) qb.

The first time I looked at him going into that draft I couldn't belive the ducks he was throwing in college and the people saying he was a legit QB prospect. It was mind boggling. The ball came out like it was launched by a wet noodle. It was unbelievably bad but we also went after Little and his film was terrible also. Hurney really had some beer goggles on at times.

The kid with the golden arm they called him looool. I married into a diehard ND family so I’m part ND fan now as well, I’ve never been so mad on a draft pick in my entire life than when we took him. Garbage.

As I'm sure you know but others may not, he had as many 400 yard passing games as 100 yard rushing games...

If all he has was potential to run the ball he wouldn't be the prospect he is. Arm strength is awesome and he made some impressive throws.  But he also has a long way to go consistency wise... If he didn't he'd be consensus #1...

The other user made it sound like all he does is run. We actively tried to limit his runs this year, sometimes to our detriment. But our backup QB was hurt all year so they didn’t want to risk him getting hurt too and us having to go with Kitna.

So Richardson had two 400 yard passing games this year against Vandy and Tennessee. Will Levis had 0 400 yard passing games. Bryce Young had 1. Stroud had 0. Dugan had 0.

Yeah sorry -  I wasn't knocking those 100 yard rushes or 400 yard passing - my intent was to show he isn't some kind of "rushing QB" alone.  400 yard games are imo relatively special for a passer, and so if AR was just a running back pretending to be a QB he wouldn't have the same number of 400 yard games as 100 yard rushing games. There are *many* QBs that are far more rush-first than AR was.

Oh my fault. I was agreeing with you. Didn’t mean to make it sound like I was coming at you or anything!

All good.  Honestly, the more I've looked into AR and his circumstances, the more I really like him. I caught some of his series across a few games earlier in the year and tbh I wasn't as impressed because I didn't know anything about the team around him etc, and didn't usually watch full games to get a glimpse of some of his better plays.  He oozes potential, and I think he has all the traits that NFL GMs love.  I think he's going to go high, but I also am far from a professional evaluator.

You guys are arguing in agreement. If the next coach is worth a damn Matt will get a fair shot this time along with whoever else they bring in, but they aren’t going to stop looking because of him.

Exactly. We are going to see just how good or bad Matt Corral is. It's on the menu. What's a fish fry without the fish?

Be honest, with a new head coach coming in, if they draft a QB in the first two rounds MC isn’t going to get a fair shake at all.

    • KC has a very good defense this year. It is 5th overall. Yes, still worse than last year, but their offense is considerably worse. Their passing D may be their "weakness" but they still allow fewer than 20 ppg. BY completed several deep passes yesterday, and he was able to threaten downfield in ways he didn't seem capable of before the benching. I'm not necessarily worried about his ability to connect deep anymore. What to me was impressive was that he did all this without a run game. We used the pass to set up what little running success we had. Wild.
    • Solid and fair assessment.   I will say, one of the big things I noticed yesterday was that he wasn't shy to step up into the pocket in the face of pressure.  He's trusting the IOL.  And they took care of Chris Jones yesterday.  We had clean pockets but also good success rate vs. pressure which just hasn't been the case with Bryce.   If he has more confidence the OL gets it done and he can navigate and step up for throws, that's huge.  It's one of the biggest things that's held him back.  He was previously bailing quickly and just too easily throwing away or making dead plays.     He was finding his 2nd to 3rd reads within structure/without bailing in the pocket.  That was nice to see, as much concern I have with him.  And the overall limitations will always be there. Time to back it up this week against the Bucs.
    • Suddenly the Cowgirls look like our best chance for a win remaining. I think the Bucs are playing better than the Falcons of late.  Our lone game versus the dirty birds is in the ATL where we always struggle.  The Cardinals are marginally better than I thought they would be. We are not beating the Eagles, they are starting to roll. I'm saying two at most, next week at home versus the Bucs and the Cowgirls.
