Your assumption could  very well be correct. The waiver wire order is set by reverse league standings after Monday Night Football.

With the 49ers at 8-4 and in first place in the NFC West, all but four teams will have a chance at claiming Mayfield before they could.

Any team that claims Mayfield would owe him a prorated $1.3 million.

Can't get over how badly he played.  He's done, unsure if he'd even outperform Purdy at this point.

Mayfield finished his Panthers tenure with career-lows in completion percentage (57.8 percent), yards per game (187.6) and only six touchdowns with six interceptions.

True, but I don't think that will happen...unless Sam gets the yips back.  When Sam is playing confidently, he's actually an okay QB.  Once he starts doubting himself though, his play turns into a dumpster fire full of paper and gasoline.

No, he definitely isn't.

I doubt it happens because the coaching staff knows they need to keep the ball out of his hands as much as possible.

Sometimes I think he has PTSD from the injuries last year…and from descriptions, multiple injuries and pretty bad

i told people. cleveland and baker looked good because of chubb. Chubb was such a threat that baker had open throwing lanes. Baker was not good. i hoped he would prove me wrong but you saw how the story went.
