I think you have hit on a key here....... Henning makes the pieces fit his offense.... and it is too damn conservative and predictable. If he had the vision to adapt his offensive plan to match his personel, he'd be much better.

Bottom line: he's good at putting together a conservative "don't beat yourself" offense...... Maybe an 8-8 or 9-7 team.

As for the Wildcat, remember when he put it in place here without a QB and won a couple games....?

dan is a good OC when he has the peices that he needs to run his offense, but he doesnt know how to use the talent that he has if the peices he needs arent there. In other words, he doesnt know how to gameplan...

with the players we have now, dan would have been as successful, but i think that davidson would have done better in a situatiuon like we had last year.

You would seriously take Chucky and rotund Wade Phillips over our coaching staff? Guys who can't win home playoff games, have trouble controlling their players, and usually regress in December? The two franchises have a combined five appearances with zero wins since the 2002 season ended. No thanks.

Jeff Fisher is an extremely underrated coach and I would consider him better than Fox. Patriots and Steelers are a given, but that's only three coaching staffs I would rather have than ours right now and those pretty much make up the trifecta of the AFC elite. Dungy and his staff is a tossup because, outside of their Super Bowl run, they seem to have trouble with folding in the playoffs.

Atlanta and Baltimore's staffs are good but new and still somewhat unproven. An offseason of film study on Flacco and Ryan's tendencies will show whether they're ready for the next level. Jim Mora Jr. and Sean Payton both looked like the saviors of their respective franchises in their first seasons too. To this point, neither has posted a winning season after their first one.

Yeah, I'd like to see what a Jim Johnson with his fearless blitzing and Kiffin's staff with the kind of ball hawking and hitting they coach could do in Carolina, but as a whole I don't really think that either staff is heads and shoulders better than ours. If I could cherry pick our coaching staff like that, I would definitely replace Trgovac with a Kiffin or Johnson, but as a whole I think our staff is better than the sum of its parts.

I was really talking about coordinators in the league since they're the ones who do all the dirty work...I would take Fox over everyone except Dungy and Belichek. John Fox just doesn't hire good coordinators.

I always liked Henning and really didnt want to see him go but I think it was the right move. He prob just needed a year off and he is back doing what he did for us winning games. Funny though he likes to use TEs now unlike in the past.
