henning's problem was his stubborness to change his ways. Hennings been in the league for God knows how long ... so long to the point where every single team and coach played against henning multiple times. Teams knew exactly how to gameplan against us, and b/c henning refused to change, our offense became enemic and ineffective

From what little I remember, seems like we were in the top 10 in points per game in 05 and sucked in 06.

FWIW, statistically our average starting field position for offense was between 5 and 10 yards WORSE in 06 than 05. That makes a difference.

There's one factor that I haven't seen about the success of Miami's offense in this thread: David Lee. I don't think the Fins are where they are without his installation of his package. It may not have been their plan in the beginning, but right now, I think they should be grooming him to eventually take over as their OC. Of course, some team may try and take a flyer on him running their offense.

We were also plus 16 in the turnover department in 05, -5 in 06. That probably explains the field position difference.

Name them then. Also, take Fox's performance in the playoffs into consideration.

I don't like John Fox as a coach..but I respect the man for what he's done with this organization, but as far as coordinators....I would take Atlanta, Baltimore, Philly, Patriots, Steelers, Titans, Tampa, Colts, Dallas over our coordinators..Even though John Fox has proven he can win in this league with "conservative" coordinators...Just imagine if we had a defensive coordinator like Jimmy Johnson or Kiffin with our talent...

Sometimes you just have to implement change to move on....just look whats happening in Detroit right now....the players are working their butts off every week but you know that you have to fire the HC....nobody is going to come back and listen to a coach who made NFL history by going 0-16.

Chad Pennington is the key to the Dolphin's success. His role as a game manager and his 1-2 punch at running back really help stabilize their offense. However, you can also come back and say William Parcells was the genius in drafting Jake Long and acquiring Chad Pennington from a division rival. Not to mention that I'm a Ronnie Brown fan though but not nearly as much as DeAngelo.

You would seriously take Chucky and rotund Wade Phillips over our coaching staff? Guys who can't win home playoff games, have trouble controlling their players, and usually regress in December? The two franchises have a combined five appearances with zero wins since the 2002 season ended. No thanks.

Jeff Fisher is an extremely underrated coach and I would consider him better than Fox. Patriots and Steelers are a given, but that's only three coaching staffs I would rather have than ours right now and those pretty much make up the trifecta of the AFC elite. Dungy and his staff is a tossup because, outside of their Super Bowl run, they seem to have trouble with folding in the playoffs.

Atlanta and Baltimore's staffs are good but new and still somewhat unproven. An offseason of film study on Flacco and Ryan's tendencies will show whether they're ready for the next level. Jim Mora Jr. and Sean Payton both looked like the saviors of their respective franchises in their first seasons too. To this point, neither has posted a winning season after their first one.

Yeah, I'd like to see what a Jim Johnson with his fearless blitzing and Kiffin's staff with the kind of ball hawking and hitting they coach could do in Carolina, but as a whole I don't really think that either staff is heads and shoulders better than ours. If I could cherry pick our coaching staff like that, I would definitely replace Trgovac with a Kiffin or Johnson, but as a whole I think our staff is better than the sum of its parts.

Then I am glad you are not responsible for hiring.

And fwiw, Tampa has quite a bit of talent on defense, probably more than we do.
