Why franchise him? No one else is going to offer him a massive contract. He's a backup at this point.

That's where I am. Stopgap and ultimately a backup while we develop Corral and see what he is. In 2 years we will either cut Corral or he will move into Darnolds spot.

Should have been QB#1 for this season the whole time the Baker experience was a big waste of everyone's time but at least it got Rhule fired..

Depends on how well Darnold performs. If he performs well and leads the Panthers to the playoffs they probably won’t have any other choice but to franchise him unless they sign him to a multi year contract. If he sucks these next few games then you just let him walk.

he is, but that is really saying VERY little.

if he wants to come back for cheap, fine, but please do not plan to build around him.

ofc if he somehow manages to lead us into the playoffs my attitude will change, lol.
