Fields might be better than Vick but the bottom line is that no matter how great a runner any quarterback is, they will succeed or fail based on how well they can pass.

It's just not how the NFL works. Too much speed and too many defensive schemes.

You can succeed with a "be the offense" quarterback at the college level, but not in the pros.

The whole notion that you can just draft a super athletic guy and teach him all the skills he needs to become a passer is a formula for failure.

Give me a guy who already understands how to pass. I don't give a sh-t if he's as athletic as Michael Vick or as big a statue as Dan Marino.

what if .... one day there is a player that can do both at Elite levels? How insane would that be? Like a Vick meets Mahomes type...

I would classify Young as more of a mobile QB than a legit dual threat QB, and he's really not known for changing the game. It was a different era where the rushing numbers really pale in comparison to what has gone on in today's NFL.

Claypool trade gives them a second two. Look online and the overwhelming majority of Bears fans believe they have their guy. Anyone thinking they should shop him is in the super super minute minority. Even Reddit which is a cesspool is mostly all in on him now.

Over his career he ran about 5-6 times per game... in that era of football that was a running QB. You can't compare him to today's football. Especially if you didnt grow up watching that era of football due to the context.

Young was a passer first but also a pretty dangerous runner. As such, he was a true dual threat.

A lot of guys who get called dual threats really aren't.
