It’s simple Fields is getting better the more he plays. That’s typical for QBs. Mills is playing the same level or possibly worse as we started. I can draw a graph for you if it helps. One is trending UP which is what you want while the other is tending to be replaced which is what you don’t want.

He had to get better, his numbers were on par with Jamarcus Russell prior to this 3 game stretch. And still not worth a first round pick

This is not that black and white.

I am watching him play.

He's absolutely dealing back there.

He's not running stupid spread option schit 30 percent of the time. QB draws.

He's just sitting back and firing the way a QB should.

Something Fields isn't capable of doing yet.

So is it he rarely gets designed runs called and that’s ok or you don’t want designed runs at all? Because you said designed runs = bad but he’s had designed runs called.

Everyone “has to” get better but not everyone does. He’s had a three game stretch averaging three touchdowns a game. When is the last time we had that kind of QB play?
When is the last time we had QB play that got better four consecutive games?

He needs to run more. Currently letting his team down…

Stop with this bullshit false narrative.

On Tuesday, Seth Walder, ESPN’s analytics writer, released data illustrating that Fields’ high sack rate is more on him than the offensive line according to ESPN’s pass rush win block win rate metric.

As a team, the Bears rank second in team pass block win rate at 68 percent after six weeks, trailing the Browns (73 percent) and just ahead of the Ravens and Chiefs (both at 67 percent).

Justin Fields' high sack rate is mostly on him, not the Bears' offensive line.

Left: Fields' astronomical sack rate comes despite a strong Bears pass block win rate.

Right: Fields takes sacks late. He has only taken 5 sacks this year under the median sack time (4.29s). pic.twitter.com/Px1hct917q

An still-lacking offensive line: Chicago's front five has allowed pressure on 34.1% of pass attempts — the highest mark in the NFL — although injuries have decimated the unit.

He is without a doubt holding the ball too long, but his OL also isn’t doing him any favors…

He has two passing touchdown today too.

Before I consider it a mistake not taking him I want to see this season as a whole and see how he looks at the end rather than one good game here and there. If he looks strong overall with more good games than bad by seasons end I will too start to believe it was a mistake to not take him. Somehow I just never believed he would put it all together but maybe my bias comes from where he came from at Ohio State which I realize you can't fully judge any QB by just the school he came from.

when our qb options sit on 11/7/22 are Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold and PJ Walker I can safely say not drafting Fields was a mistake, I dont need the rest of the season to make that declaration.

Mate he's improving every week with a guy called Darnell Mooney as his number 1 target. Watch him play now that the panthers game is over

I did. You are right, he did look good. If at season end he has more good games than bad and does keep showing improvement I will agree that he was a missed opportunity. No matter how good Horn turns out your most valuable asset will always be a good franchise QB

Ehhh, yeah he is looking pretty good and improving each week. I also agree he would be a better option than anyone we have and definitely see where you are coming from. I guess you are right that he isn't working with much as far as team support and who knows maybe he would look even better with some solid pieces around him. I'm probably warped and under the wrong mindset thinking every QB we draft should look like Pat Mahomes out the gate.

Did you watch that game last night?

Even though the whole offense was off did you see Mahomes taking off and running constantly?

No, when he scrambles he looks downfield until there's no other option then runs. He wants to throw it.

That's what I want. A guy like that that can deliver incredible passes. Did you see that window he squeezed it into?

What I don't want is some guy like Mike Vick who can't throw at all and takes off anytime there's adversity.

I also don't want another Cam Newton who has tons of designed runs especially around the goal line. Cam unfortunately wasn't an elite passer and it cost us several times especially at the end of games. He was a great player. But I would much rather see him throw the ball into the endzone or hand it off.

I want a Mahomes. I want a Staubach. I want a Steve Young.

I don't want a The Golden Calf of Bristol, Vick Cunningham

I'll accept a Cam clone but won't be happy about it.

It's only a mistake if he becomes a consistently top 10 guy.
