You draft a 1st round rookie QB and you sign Heinickie or PJ to back him up and mentor him. I SAID WHAT I SAID.

PJ is a good guy and a good teammate but geesh some people are really hard up to anoint anyone at this point. Even with Heinicke I remember a Wash fan telling me last year they had found their franchise QB after they played us. Finish the season and go from there.

Hasn't Heinicke won 3 in a row?

I had to go and look because you made it sound like the Commanders were stomping out contenders. Nail biter wins over the Bears Packers and Colts? Come on!

We are talking about backup QB/mentor  here, not franchise savior.

I'm not opposed to keeping PJ around but I doubt we get a chance to sign Taylor unless Rivera is canned. Wentz is an overpaid bum who has gotten way more chances than he should have and Washington would be wise to kick him to the curb dead money be damned. Likelihood is it will be a QB competition of Heinicke and Howell for Washington next year.

Very good point. I have no idea what to do with Corral. You Can’t trust him to be our starter, you can’t pass up the opportunity to draft a QB, and you definitely can’t have PJ as your starter next season (I absolutely love what he is doing and as a backup, not as a penciled in starter though). Corral is in a tough position but another year developing at minimum is what I would plan for. If he proves he belongs when coming back from injury you can then game plan on him being your number 2 moving forward after next season then you can reassess after that

Corral, provided that he gets over his injury in time, will be very much on the same footing as any of these QBs coming out from what I've seen. You let them engage in a legit competition with equal reps and you see what's shaking from there. That's the only sensible thing to do, and I'm going to trust that the next HC will be sensible because Tepper doesn't want anything resembling to a failed Rhule-like tactics.

QB is the position that the Panthers know the least about.  It's not that the don't know what one is, we don't know what we have.

I agree that we need a passable veteran, to draft somebody to hopefully be "the solution," and to take a good look at Corral.  Out of that group, who knows who starts week one in 2023?  The most like pick is the vet, then the draft pick, then Corral but sometimes strange things happen when there is an open position heading into the season.

Going into 2023, we have one QB on the roster: Corral.  We know nothing about him, thanks to the malpractice committed by our dimwit former HC.  Yeah, I know, he looked like he11 in the preseason, but he also has not had 5 minutes of NFL coaching on the position.  After all, he was a freshman and freshman have no place on the varsity.

Walker may be a decent backup or not, we don't know that yet, either.  He carries the stench of being one of The Process' guys, but he may be more than that.  We have nine more games to figure that out.  If so, maybe we resign him provided nobody wants to bid up his price.  If they do, sold.  If the bomb on Sunday made anybody a convert, see the video below.  The difference is that PJ is not a jacka$$.

Hard pass on Darnold or Mayfield for the vet we need.

As for throwing a parade for a guy based on a Hail Mary or leading a miracle comeback, I present Clint Longley.

Suck for MAYE. Seriously, Drake Maye is the next Justin Herbert. If we screw it up by taking WILL fuging LEVIS I'm going to lose my poo. Draft Will Anderson or a star wide receiver, sign Brown and Burns, if Corral doesn't pan out you get a shot at a guy like Maye in 2024.

We are going to be in another 3 year plan here so, I'm cool with shooting for Drake Maye in 24.

    • I think it will be hard to not go edge in the second if we go QB first. Say you have Starks, one of Bond/Egbuka, and maybe one Edge (don't have a name to throw out that is end of 1st round projected and may slide)... do you still go Starks? Just curious. I haven't looked into starks much, as I've been focused on QB, WR, and DL prospects.
