Worst OL for Alabama is still in the top 10. That's a big difference than say most of the rest of college football. Also Wright is more a 2nd day RT not second round. Hooker keeps rushers at bay with his running just like Young but both have flaws. Young being he's 5 11 and Hooker being his age and system. Neither will be franchise QBs. Besides there are other QBs with better mesurables and similar stats when put in prospective.

2nd day is 2nd rd FWIW.  And day 2 RTs are still considered top tier RTs.  See Moton and the Bills LT.

and just because it’s Bama doesn’t mean their worst is still elite.  If that was the case you would still several of them drafted high.  Which is no the case.  The only reason they are rated as high as they are as noted above.  Is Youngs legs and the way he can maneuver and avoid pressure while keeping his eyes downfield scanning and processing.  That’s still a “Elite trait”.  That’s how Russell Wilson has made it in this league.  That’s how Bree’s made it in this league.  Traits aren’t just 6’6 260 runs 4.5 and throws 90 yards.  There’s mental traits as well.  Additionally athletic ability isn’t just taking off and running like Lamar.  It’s the the ability to maneuver and avoid presser behind the LOS like Rus.

Young can still rip it too

You can try to make excuses for Alabama but it's still not going to help Young. As ranked they have the 6th best OL in the country. Or are all these people wrong and you're right? If we are ignoring everything Stroud, Young, and Hooker are all franchise QBs. But in the real world that just isn't so.

These are not ranked but general top 5

1.Stroud

2. Will Levis

3. Tanner McKee

4. Cameron Ward

5. Grayson McCall.

honorable mentions

Michael Penix jr

Anthony Richardson

So Young is, at best, 9th on your list in 2022.  I think you’re alone on that island and missing the closest thing to Mahomes since he came into the league.

I’m not giving out excuses.  I simply am pointing out its not as talented.  That’s not even just my opinion.  That’s scouts opinion, that’s draft experts opinion.

And again.  Stats ranking is due to sacks given up etc.

so all the NFL people are saying the talent isn’t there on that OL.  And the OL stats are good.

its 1 of 2 things.  Either they are playing crap competition or the QB play is pretty good.  And I’m sure you agree that they aren’t playing Crap competition in the SEC.  So that only leaves 1 thing.

if Ohio State had a OL where it was said to have the worst in years.  And scouts and draft experts are saying there aren’t any high NFL caliber OL on the OL.  Yet they still “rank high”. Is that not on Stroud for them ranking high and not giving up sacks?

I know Bama has historically been a bad QB school. But the past few QBs out of Bama would be better than anything we've had since Cam.

Has Ohio State been any better?  And have we been saying thing about Stroud and what program he is coming from?

We gotta start taking shots on highly rated QB prospects, even if it's at the expense of potentially missing out on a great player at another position. My plan would be to draft the best QB on our list this year, give him 2 years to show franchise QB ability and if he doesn't, rinse and repeat until we find a franchise guy.

Unless that QB has a pedigree name like Manning or Luck, it's a hard pass.

Better value and more drive with a QB like Montana, Theismann, Rypien, Hostetler, Warner, Johnson, Brady, Wilson, and Foles. A team can pair them with a wr/rb combo like CMC/Kupp, Chubb/Moore, Faulk/Bruce, Green/Moss, or Wilson/Hall. They also produce more points for an offense in big games.

In the last 20 SBs, there have been 11 QBs who have led their offense to produce more than 28 points against a SB defense. Brady, Mahomes, Foles, Delhomme, Kaepernick, Brees, Rodgers, Johnson, Manning, Wilson, and Flacco. Only 4 of them were first round QBs.

33 teams have scored more than 28 points in the SB. 16 have been 1st round QBs.

Bradshaw(2x), Aikman(2x), Elway(2x), Plunkett, McMahon, Simms, Williams, Young, Dilfer, Flacco, Manning, Rodgers, and Mahomes.

Brady(3x), Montana(2x), Starr(2x), Stabler, Staubach, Rypien, Favre, Johnson, Delhomme, Brees, Kaepernick, Wilson, and Foles.

1st round QBs have been declining in their offensive productivity for championship teams over the past 2 decades.

I like Mel Kiper and respect his opinion but he is an espn character. If he knew as much about scouting that he thought he did he would have been working for a team decades ago.

he talks about that all the time. he got a job offer from the baltimore colts but they moved to ind and wanted him to come but his family is in Baltimore so he didnt accept.

    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
    • 6-10 carries for  35-45 yds and 3-5 catches for 15-25 would be great.
