Sounds like another week without Horn...

Some players can play through pain and some can't. Personally I think Horn has been making career moves since day one. He's never going to play unless he's 100%. It's a common theme with former players kids.

I'm not inclined to go that far, but I did find Wilks' response interesting about Horn this week.

Quote

“Well, he looked good today,” Wilks said. “And even last week, I thought he was progressing, but for whatever reason, he didn’t feel like he could go, so hopefully we can get over the hump this week.”

Usually I roll my eyes at people who read too much into coaches' answers and maybe I'm doing that here, but Wilks almost seems annoyed?  Or a bit dubious?  He thought Horn was on track and "for whatever reason" he made that decision himself not to play.  I'm often wondering when a player sits due to injury, if that decision comes from the player himself or if it's a coaching/medical decision not to clear him to play.  This one sounds entirely like Horn was cleared but decided for himself to sit out...which, if he's legitimately in that bad of shape, I would rather he be cautious instead of risking exacerbating the injury.  But it just sounds like Wilks' perception of the injury seems somewhat at odds with Horn.  There are players like Cam, Thomas Davis, and Jonathan Stewart who are tough as nails and almost beg coaches to let them play despite constantly dealing with lingering injuries, so I dunno I'll give Horn the benefit of the doubt but it's still a little disappointing.

I thought he was talking about Sam Darnold with the "I dont think I can go this week" quote or am I wrong.....I had it on as back ground filler.

Tbh I didn't watch the interview where he gave this quote, I'm just going off of the article that I linked.  The article makes no mention of Darnold and clearly attributes this quote to Wilks talking about Horn, unless the author of the article made a mistake.

Horn just has bruised ribs. I get a WR not wanting to take another blow but Horns job is to cover. He's not going to take any blows. Tbh we picked the wrong CB and I wanted Surtain above Horn. I had a bad feeling when he dad was with him to "negotiate" his rookie deal this was how they were going to approach the NFL. If this trend continues I'm betting we don't pick up his 5th year option.

I figured he wouldn’t miss this game due to not getting to play against Pitts last year

At this point we were probably better off taking Fields. Just Fields legs alone would’ve given us more production than what we’ve had from our QB’s the last 2 seasons

Horn is an elite cover guy but time missed is really starting to add up

A cover corner has to twist the torso multiple times per play so I could see how that would cause pain with a rib injury. That being said, it would be disappointing that if he is cleared to play that he would choose to sit out. Maybe having a chance to take first place in the division with a win might be enough juice to get him out there.
