What’s your 2023 QB big board (including Corral)

I think you would have to agree though that the damn near microscopic number of reps he got in camp would have made it difficult for just about anybody to look good.

I'm not just talking about his play. I'm talking about simply looking like he athletically belonged. He looked like a guy who was simply overwhelmed by being on the field with better athletes. I didn't see any traits translating for him. That's the thing about guys who belong. Even if everything around them is shot you can see signs. I didn't see any signs.

Thanks, you beat me to it.

I don't doubt we'll draft a QB but that's all I will agree to.  I think Corral will have a TRUE QB competition if we do.

The problem is Corral is going to be a year ahead of any of these rookies when they actually get here. He will have the advantage which makes another QB less likely. They intend to develop him. They said that. People weren't listening. It's just the same fan drool over QBs when they get the top pick, which we haven't.

If Corral beats the in coming QB we've passed on perhaps a star DE or whoever and wasted that pick. They do have a lot of capital in multiple picks so IF it's Levis and that's who they want, who knows, or they could use those extra picks/players to get two picks in the first or second.

The Rhule school of "competition" in the NFL is a farce. Everyone should know who's starting, if you don't, you're Matt Rhule and not the 31 other NFL coaches.

Isn't that kind of what you'd expect a rookie with no practice reps to look like though?

You have an example of an injured 3rd qb competing with a highly drafted rookie qb?

An injured QB that has as many good traits as any highly drafted rookie QB.  It's your opinion and though I respect it, it's not how things will play out.

You have no idea how a new coach will evaluate Corral, nor do I, but the fact that we drafted him but our inept coach failed to give him a real opportunity makes it difficult to decide.

I'm not saying Corral is any better than those in this draft but I am saying he will be evaluated as one of these picks.  Of course, his injury status will have a bearing on it but he'll get a chance to compete, when healthy.   You also need to be reminded that the true competition doesn't start until training camp.  OTA's and minicamps offer very little contact.

We're just going to have to agree to disagree because I'm not changing your approach and you're not going to change mine.

You do this a lot; where you speak in absolutes and ask people to go above and beyond to show proof of things that ultimately don’t matter anyway.

If you spoke in probabilities then the conversation is fine, but you don’t do so.

The Tom Brady example is tiresome, but useful because everyone knows about it.

A fan could have been excited about Tom in the 6th round, and another fan could oppose them saying “How many QB’s in the 6th round have lasted in the league at all let alone won a Super Bowl. Short list. Therefore Tom won’t be anything.”

And then he did it. The past can be fun for conversation, but it doesn’t really matter. Like Ohio St. quarterbacks suck in the NFL…until one doesn’t.

Being “realistic” would be saying, “it’s highly unlikely that Corral, coming off an injury with, likely, a new coach, would get a chance on this team.”

Not absolutes.

The closest thing to an absolute, is that you, and me, aren’t as knowledgeable as we think we are.

The new coach will evaluate corral as a 3rd rounder who cannot even practice until august.  Not just my opinion but fact.

Totally agree.

This is where the HC (Wilks or someone new) will have to truly evaluate the 2023 class against Corral's traits.  They may choose to go with that elite position over a QB and take a QB at 32.

It's a dilemma that Rhule put us in by treating Corral the way he did.

Again, in simply taking about how he physically looked out there, not play. He didn't look like he belonged in terms of physical tools.

I get what you're saying. I just think it's hard to judge anything significant about him given the circumstances.

Again, I wouldn't pass on drafting a quarterback, but I really don't think we truly know much of anything about Corral.

I tend to form my opinions on things that have or haven’t happened in the past consistently.   A second year injured player beating out a highly drafted rookie qb is unheard of.   It’s not the norm and most certainly not how coaching staffs handle a top rookie.  There is no competition it’s just all about getting the qb up to speed.   Hanging your hat and forming opinions on aberrations is not a good way to go through life.    the data is the data.

So without knowing who will be the head coach, who will be the coordinator/QB coach, what offense they prefer to implement, never speaking with Fitt or Morgan, nor the scouting department…

This is a fact?

The fact is he is hurt and cannot practice until aug.  it doesn’t matter who the coach is.   That’s a fact.

At least you admit that when you speak in absolutes, that’s just how you convey your opinions. It’s a rather abrasive way to do so, but now I know the baseline.
