There's something to be said for giving a QB time to settle into the O and get in sync with the receivers.  Josh Allen wasn't very good his first year out.

We've seen Teddy's best performance and Sam's and Bakers worst.

Would Teddy had played better with another year in the O?  Maybe.

Would Sam had been better with the new OL?  Maybe. 

Would Baker improve as McAdoo figures it out and he gets in sync with the WR's?  Maybe.

Its PJ's show now until he lets it go.

I know a lot of Panther fans love the idea of finding the next Cam Newton, but you also have to realize that player may not be out there in the current draft pool. And even if they are, would they be compatible with the kind of scheme our new head coach wants to run?

Plus, just frankly, when you're looking for a clone of someone you liked in the past, You are by definition limiting your choices and may end up missing someone who could be just as good even if they're not the same style.

Just stick to trying to find someone who can win in the NFL, whatever style of player they might be.

Maybe some people are saying that literally, but when I say it (and I assume when others say it) they are actually saying “franchise QB with elite traits.”

 

Cam was huge, fast, had a cannon, looked dominant in the SEC.

 

So people are questioning if that kind of guy is in this upcoming draft, in whatever form of play style the player might have.

If we do, I think Tepper will keep Wilks as the head coach, but really as just a foil for next year.

• Draft anything but a quarterback, until your hand is forced.

 A franchise player is one of the best players on the team that you can build around. Most of those QB's aren't. I'm not looking for a solid player in the top 5 picks. I want someone that other teams fear.

All this tells us is that teams that are picking in the top 5 have missed the boat in either selecting their QB or developing them. You could do this same exercise for just about every other position and find similar results.
