Cowher's Coaching record...

Not this again...

1. It's easy to compile such a record when they had the Bungles, the old Browns (which became the Ravens), new Browns and an expansion team (Jacksonville) in their division.

From 1996 to 2005 the Jacksonville Jaguars had seasons where they won 9,11,11,14,9 and 12 games. Not exactly guaranteed wins for the Steelers every year. In addition the Jags are 11-9 lifetime vs Steel Town.

Interesting -- 37.5% of NFL teams go to the playoffs in a given year, so the Panthers have been right on average during Fox's tenure for making the postseason.

I don't like this...because it makes it seem like going to the playoffs is a random event. When it certainly is not. That's why you see a lot of the same playoff teams year to year.

The AFC North has been way more competitive in the past with the Ravens (and occasionally the Bengals) than the NFC South. He went to multiple AFC Championships and just came up short against probably the best franchise of the last decade. He is a much better coach than Fox.

At Fox's current pace we could stick with him for another 8 years and only go to the playoffs 6 times. That is terrible.

he may not make this team into a dynasty but as long as he can make the team better, it's all good. isn't that what everyone wants?

Sure. But some here seem to like him for taking the Steelers to the Playoffs more than winning the SB. Do you guys care that he took the Steelers to the Playoffs more than winning the SB? Some of the comments I read around here sound like it.

Seifert without the Bill Walsh machine and then Ediie Debartelo's pre-salary cap check book:

1995 one and done in the playoffs with the 49ers.

1996 2 and done in the playoffs with the 49ers and fired.

3 years with the Panthers;

16 wins, 32 losses and fired.

The 49ers is why the NFL has a salary cap.

Fortunately the Panthers won't be considering any Head Coaches with skewed numbers friom the salary cap era.
