It helps if you've got other players you can complement him with. Then you can use him to draw attention away.

...

That is unless you have those players but don't have coaches smart enough to know how to use them.

CMC made this offense predictable. I am really interested in seeing what happens when he isn't the focal point.

When is the last time he had a 50+yard run? I'll save you the Google search, it's been 3 years.

When's the last time he had holes you cam drive a truck through?

Let's the last time we had a decent line and serviceable QB he had

40+ yd off tackle td

84 yd up gut td

76 yd up gut td

58 yd up gut td

I'm probably forgetting some that year.

We don't have a home run hitter anymore

He is gone now the past is the past.... Today was the best blocking we have seen in years though.

Same thing. Our entire offense was run through CMC by coaches design. They finally had to do something different because they had no choice.

Pretty much.  Really interested to see how Shanahan uses him with Deebo and Kittle.  I mean, that's a fun group to have an offense with, and you don't need to run it through any of them explicitly either.  We just did it all so wrong with Rhule.  Turner was a bit better in 17-18 but still not my favorite.  Still though, they used Samuel, Moore, CMC, it was a more complete offense.  And it made Kyle Allen look good.  It wasn't some forced jamboree through one guy that Rhule did.

He doesn't have the same burst he used to have. RB's have a short shelf life and injuries have taken their toll. He's still a great player but he's not a "home run hitter" anymore either. Moving on from him was 100% the correct move given what we got in return. If you're hanging your hat on plays from three years ago idk what to tell you.

We didnt have a home run hitter with him, he is not the same guy he was a few years ago.

We got the best possible outcome with CMC, we got something of value for him before his value is completely diminished, thats what smart teams do.

The difference was replacing Elf with Bozeman. He had the communication and pre snap calls on the OL working better than Elf could ever hope to do. Bozeman has the OL to work with and makes the job on the QB and RB so much easier. PJ and the RBs were able to be patient all game long.

CMC would have owned this game with Bozeman at center and PJ at QB.

Not having Robby getting targets was a huge reason for improvement in play production in the passing game too.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
