We were always going to win a couple more.  I still think we are top 5.  But the teams ahead of us are all qb hungry as well

the top 3 are gone and they we have to start reaching

Nah just grab Hooker, McCall, Hall, or McKee in the 2nd or trade back and draft one. UCLA QB looks good too. I think one if the big 3 will fall to us though.

I, for one, would love to see CMC dominate and the 49ers win, further proving Fhule's failure at all levels.

Why would we want that? Niners losing only increases the value of the picks we just got from them. Who gives a poo about Rhule... dude is getting paid handsomely to do nothing the next couple years.

It does help, but the bigger issue that's been getting overlooked all season is the defense letting long drives happen, often out of halftime or following offensive scores.

Today, the Bucs are having quick 3 and outs and add to that the run game has been working better and the offense is staying on the field more.

I get what you are saying, and I agree the D played a solid game today.  Especially in the third qtr.   But Tampa actually won the time of possession battle.  And if I am counting right, only had one three and out, along with one five and out to start the game.  But the D was fresh enough at the end to have a chance.  And that was huge.

But Tampa Bay's offense being terrible played a big role as well.

We are picking a qb in the first.   That’s locked in stone.  I doubt we have the stones to trade back and pick one.  We probably would just take the next guy on our ranking regardless of where we are.

Good point, my anger at Fhule is still guiding me.

If we are picking in the top 10 and the big 3 are gone there is no need to reach. After the top 3 there is a drop off, but still a long list of talented passers.
However, there are still a lot of games left and I think we will walk away with Stroud, Young, or Levis.

JFC, Tampa has scored 3 points. Saying we would have lost with CMC is ridiculous. This Tampa team is garbage right now. If Jarret doesn’t get a penalty, Tampa’s 0-5 after beating Winston (he threw 3 picks). They are a bad team now. We win this game easily with CMC.

All of a sudden Chubba and Foreman are gods, lol.

Never said any such thing about Foreman or Chubba, just that having an elite RB is less valuable than most here want to believe.  Having. An elite RB is essentially inconsequential in today's NFL.  Is it cool and fun to watch?  Absolutely.  Does it matter?  Nope.  Go find me the teams with one elite/workhorse/primary RB with the offense built around that who have won a Superbowl in the last few years.  Kamara, Taylor, and Henry are probably the most dominant other RBs in the league in the last few years and not one of them have a Superbowl or even sniffed one.  So Foreman and Chubba don't have to be "gods," they just have to produce in a committee just like they did today.  And it's amazing how functional the offense looks when you're not forcing the ball to one guy all day...  bekieve it or not, as fun as it was to watch, he held us back...  and any offense that relies primarily on one RB are setting themselves up for failure in today's NFL.

And to be clear, I wasn't saying we would've lost to Tampa with CMC if he scored 4 TDs - which also was asinine in itself because name the last time he scored 4 TDs.  The post I responded to also claimed he would score 4 TDs on all of those runs today, which is also hard to believe.  But regardless, I was saying because of the style of the offense we ran with CMC, we probably a) wouldn't have scored 4 TDs with him scoring all 4 of them as the other poster claimed and b) we wouldn't have won because the offense had no balance or sense of distribution.

    • Strange, every news article and tweet I just searched all mentioned waivers. It is definitely his sixth year of at least 6 games. All I was trying to think of earlier was at the vet min could he beat out Bryce in camp next year lol. He's kinda got the old Darnold issue where he can obviously launch deep balls and qb run at a level Bryce will never achieve, but it sounds like he would be content being like a Josh Allen backup who doesn't throw the whole game plan out the window if he has to come in for a series or two. If we had him and for some reason still wanted to start Bryce he would kinda do what Justin Fields was doing the other night with Dangeruss, coming in for designed runs and maybe some play action/triple option rpo things to go deep. That would be so obvious and sad though. At least Russ can still sling it 40 yards in the air with a flick of the wrist
    • Too late to edit above but the quote is from this Diane Russini article in the Athletic: https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5941684/2024/11/23/russinis-what-im-hearing-the-day-the-jets-fell-apart-and-the-broncos-rallied-belichick-best-fits/ Okay.. there you have sorry I left that out the first post.  Also waivers keep the contract intact. That is the major difference in released and waived. It's all in that link from the other post.
    • Okay so I am reading something in The Athletic and it says that Jones had to pass through waivers. So I don't know. I looked this stuff up when we were number one there all offseason and I thought it said 4 years in the league got you vested, as they call it.  Vested gets you out of waivers as I understood it. I probably got something wrong, but when I think about the slack quality of journalism these days I wonder about that. So I went and looked, again. Well, well.  For everyone: "When a player has accrued at least four seasons in the NFL, they are considered a vested veteran. When these vested veterans get cut, they are released and their contract is terminated. When a vested veteran is released, they are an unrestricted free agent that can sign with any NFL team, and the team that released them doesn’t need to provide any additional compensation." It runs it all down here, where the quotes came from: https://www.profootballnetwork.com/waived-vs-released-nfl/ As far as Jones, the team turned down his 5th year option so I knew that meant he had 4 years in, because they re-signed him anyway, after turning down the much cheaper extra year.  The Athletic is owned by the New York Times so I shouldn't be surprised. That paper was an institution once upon a time but they let their standards go.
