I mean he is right.  The primary reason we traded CMC was draft capital.   We have very little to attract a HC.  We lacked it.  And we lacked it because of the moves of our front office. 

I mean, it is a haul to some extent.  But we needed that haul because we have been poorly run.

People can do mental gymnastics about how a late 2nd and late 3rd is a "haul", but when you zoom out, this trade is really a capstone of a very poorly run team.

To be fair I think paying big money to one of the shortest shelf life positions in the NFL and running your entire offense through one guy is just as much to blame for the position we’re in as the trading away of draft capital.

That's why Stroud/Young has to be traded next October when the team is 0-7, and averages 64 yards of total offense. Because you're not gonna win with them, so may as well deal them for more draft picks you can use on players you won't win with, so you can trade them for future draft picks to get players you won't win with, and so on and so forth.

They are not high level picks. They are at the bottom of each round. 

Most likely all will be jags or busts.

Why in the world would that ever be the case though?  Corral looked utterly lost out there before he got hurt, and I am positive that either CJ Stroud or Bryce Young will come in Day 1 and QB circles around Corral.

The first overall pick will be enough to attract the coach.  CMC wasnt gonna be the reason someone came here.  Having a LT and a WR1 locked up long term to pair with the young guy of their choice will definitely attract one.  I think we'd have traded CMC even if we had all our picks, he didnt match up with our timeline and we needed to reset the books for 2024 and beyond.

Giving a new coach a full complement of picks is just another plus for them to be able to build out the roster how they want instead of being locked into something.
