I thought we didn't want any of the QBs from this year's team here next year. Was that not including Corrall?

i guess he's the only one i would be ok with. i don't think he was given a fair shake. he was an afterthought in rhule's "competition" game that he was playing. all focus was on baker and darnold. but if we gave corral the boot, i wouldn't cry.

He is cheap and still very young/raw at a premium position.  I would try to keep on if we can as a QB3.

He looks really small any way you slice it, he likely will measure in closer to the 5'10" come combine. Once he's in the pros I can see his wiki getting edited by fans to push him to 6' and then the rest of the sites will run with that. It tends to happen with the more popular players. One that I always found interesting was DK Metcalf measured in at the exact same size as Darnold 6'3" 3/8 or something like that. DK got rounded up to a strong 6'4" everywhere, some even say 6'5" meanwhile Darnold forever is a 6'3".

He would have to be incredibly special for me to want to see an exception for him. Sounds like a Tua, great in school and going to be meh and injured in the NFL. We already have a young injury prone QB, lets get one that isn't.

u clearly haven't watched Bryce play, if you think he is similar to Tua.

Tua had talent galore at WR.

Bryce doesn't have 1 WR projected in the 1st 3rounds of this draft.

Reason OSU & Bama QBs are not great in the NFL, is because they have so much talent on offense, they get to throw to their 1st read more often than not. if you watched Tua, Fields it jumped out.

In the NFL, your 1st read is not usually opened.

Bryce with this year's team, doesn't have that luxury. But his play is still outstanding, because of his supreme talent, ability to operate in the pocket & manipulate defenses as he goes thru all of his reads.

PPL talk about size, but that's not a worry to me, because the NFL protects QBs so much, you can hardly touch them anymore.

Tua was fragile even in college. Bryce played last week with a shoulder injury and took some crazy hits, yet finished the game strongly.

Why do you think Young is a better QB? Last time I checked Stroud had the better rating and hasn’t even been asked to use his legs at OSU. Imagine what he could do if a team opens up his running ability too.

Better rated playing with 1st rounders at WR in a conference OSU dominates. Context matter...

Not having to use his legs speaks more to the supreme talent he plays with, than his own.

If you watch the tape, he gets to throw to his 1st read 8 times out of 10.

Meanwhile, Bryce doesn't have a single WR projected anywhere close to 1st round or 2nd this year.

I don't watch any school ball and won't, that is why I didn't say anything definite but just what noise is filtering up into the draft talk already. I will watch the scouting stuff once the year is over. Tua had the same hype and it was all BS. Special, franchise QB lock because of what he did in school and he could overcome his size...none of it was true in the NFL and it took a great offensive mind to make him look ok but he still got injured. Playing well in school is easy compared to the NFL and if anyone knew how to project QB play from the NCAA there wouldn't be so much failure to make that transition. Hell how many Heisman winners turned into duds at the professional level?

Size matters and it is absolutely going to take a hit for it unless he can prove why he shouldn't. One of the reasons they measure height and weight at the combine is the schools info is completely unreliable so that will be a huge step for any smaller guy. I'm glad he sounds tough and better than Tua but it really doesn't matter if he can't hold up at a much tougher and more physical level of play along with all the other brutal transitional standards ahead of him. Also the older protected QBS get separate calls from the young guys, just ask PJ after he had his head almost pulled off without a flag last week. Can he? IDK and I'm not all that worried about it until we get to the offseason.

I don't care about school all I care about how they will look in the NFL. College fans overhype players and aspects from college every year that turn out to be completely fictional at this level. If the guy can finish healthy and put great tape together then he has a great chance to be an NFL QB. From some of his non-fans it sounds like some of the projected issues could be deal killers even if he is a stud at that level or has good qualities that project well into the NFL. For a guy of his 'size' and the size he actually looks he is going to have to be very special to make me want him as an NFL QB. Even Wilson didn't make it in the 1st and he isn't doing so well away from the team that made him look like an exception in the NFL.

I mean if his first option is open what do you want him to do?? Ignore him and keep going through progressions. He has shown he can go through them when needed and hits his WRs in stride. Open or not it’s typically right on the money. Can’t hate in the man for having talent around him…

He can make all the throws with pinpoint accuracy and has the release, size, and athletic ability you want in a QB. Having a talented team isn’t a negative. Young just had a top LT and WR in his last draft class and I’m not holding that against his last year accomplishments.

Burton WR, Gibbs RB, plus a large amount of defensive players will see early round picks. Alabama’s talent will almost always outmatch their opponents just like OSU’s.

Just take a look at the mock drafts and QB rankings right now and see which QB is ranked higher. There is still a lot of football left but right now it’s Stroud 1, Young 2.

He's my number two choice behind Stroud now

I think theres a bit of a drop off after that

My #3 is Levis and #4 is Hooker. Levis has loads of potential but I get concerned hes just potential. Hooker has improved but is very old

Hooker is only one year older than Levis for what it's worth.

Just read this article on Yahoo about Bryce Young: https://sports.yahoo.com/bryce-youngs-nfl-draft-prospects-are-dogged-by-questions-about-his-size-and-thats-about-it-173848416.html

It's about something I think is going to be a major question for us this off-season: Young's size.

Young is pretty clearly the most NFL-ready QB in this draft. If he were a few inches taller and a few pounds heavier I think he'd be the slam-dunk #1 pick.

Which begs the question: just how important are those few inches and pounds? Enough to bypass Young in favor of a Will Levis or C.J. Stroud?

I'm starting to think the answer may be no.

He is THIRTY POUNDS lighter than Jalen Hurts. THIRTY.

What the hell was the Alabama strength coach doing with him in the off-season? He’s got to put on weight. There isn’t enough accuracy difference imo between him and Stroud to take him over Stroud. Stroud is 2inches taller and 20th a heavier. He could easily get up to 225lbs.

Levis is 6’3” 231. He’s already NFL size.

These are the same arguments people were making for Tua/Herbert. Who would now take Tua over Herbert? Nobody.

If there is a close talent gap or “what did you put on film” gap…you go with the measurables.

Ignoring the fact that Young looks like a child among men on the field, he plays the position of QB really well and it looks so fluid the way he does it.

Quick release, strong arm, reads the entire field, decisive, great pocket awareness.

His game is top 3 pick worthy, his size is UDFA worthy.

I like the way he plays QB and if the powers that be chose him I would not be upset.

Bama QBs IMO deserve the rep even more so than Ohio St QBs though.  They never work out.  So I always have a yellow flag up on them.

I mean the only one to date that really has is the one Bama didn't want and went to OU.  And basically on Cam Newton in recent history has been better built for the NFL.

See, I'm not sure the talent gap is all that close. Or the film gap either. I think Young is significantly ahead of Stroud as a passer as it relates to the pro game. Levis is a good ways behind both, but has by far the most physical skill.
