Sounds like Scott Fitterer will continue as Panthers GM in '23

Of course he is. Tepper said as much in his presser and I think Fitterer has done a good job so far. Not perfect, but good. And who knows how much of those bad contracts are due to Rhule having more power and demanding they get done by any means necessary. He definitely deserves a shot to show what he can do without the inverted power structure of having a coach over him.

I was hoping for a consultant to help train Tepper. I'm fine with Friterer getting a shot but he hasn't sepperated himself from the stink here that he helped create. Yes that was what he was hired to do and that isn't a good selling point on why he should stay under the new expanded role.

I need to see him recoup draft caputal without deluting what we have left. If he can't do that then I hope he is dumped. Regardless of positives it would be great to clear the room, bleach it, paint it and fill it with all different people. It is that bad.

texans may trade for him, raiders another. I thought the anderson move put them in the green for 2023, theres a couple reports stating that. Cap is a mess tho, again I asked, boss walks into your office below his and tells you "resolve the contract deal with robbie, ok, I dont care just get it done and him in the building".  Whos fault is it??

Rhule - " marty taught me one thing, you never know how the year plays out, so keep spending money on those loser players".

Finnsererr- "Consider it done"

Its clear Finnesererer wanted a GM job and when one out of the 31 opened- He even called Pat stewart to get him a interview, that was after tepper/rhule spent 2 weeks with little but the guy form 49ers and jeff ireland(whom i wanted).

If hes staying that means he must have gained some power and maybe even a raise....

And that’s an acceptable top of the resume for the guy who is making the decisions that will decide the next 5 years of the franchise? Good luck with that.

Those other GMs weren’t going to sign on to be a.yes man to Rhule. Fitterer did Now he should be rewarded for it?

Not a fan at all.

But I suppose a GM picking the coach is better than the fired GM’s coach picking the new GM. Even if you do keep said new GM.

Tepper can’t get out of his own way though. A proper rebuild should not include Fit and I have a suspicion this will be yet another blunder I will point to saying I was against when poo hits the fan.

If you are planting the flag for fitt doing a good job by getting late round picks then holy fug it’s not even worth discussing with you.

Could be worse. Imagine if my whole argument was based on guilt by association.

Now that would be weak sauce.

Tepper has already said he wants an offensive minded young coach. There is no way Fitt gets to pick one without Tepper’s input.

Still no matter what, tepper needs to put a top secret move and hire a 008-like firm to find a GM. Gets the results and make up your mind to keep Finssererer or hired one of the ones you want.

I do not think this can be done without Finssererer finding out tho, thats a issue.

That Rhule stink is OP my friend....

Only thing I don't like about him is him trading away picks constantly. Would've been real nice to have ALL of our picks this year since we're going to be picking so high. Could say the same for last year.

Unless Corrall ends up being qb of the future somehow trading up for him particularly was bad. Same with that cursed CJ Henderson trade. At some point you just need to eat your mistakes and try again next year not keep burying yourself deeper in a hole.

I assume, at least some of, that was Rhule because he needed to win now.

Your last statement is my concern. We’ve seen Darnold, Mayfield and Corral. Do you really want to just give Fitterer a shot at a QB or do you feel confident he’ll draft the right one? I certainly don’t. Russell Wilson was drafted by Schneider and Carroll even said Schneider convinced him to take Wilson.

If you think about it, how many QBs has Fitt even been involved with drafting? How many coaches has he been involved in hiring?

@Mr. Scot even posted an article from Person about how Rhule had Fitterer sign off on the Darnold and Mayfield trades. Either he’s a yes man or he’s not any better.

Well Fitterer has hit on his first round picks (I’m not going to place the blame on him for Horn’s inability to stay healthy)… the jury is certainly out on his remaining picks.

The main issue for me is the impatience of the organization as a whole. All of these trades scream quick fix… I’m not in the meetings so I have no way of knowing if that was a Rhule thing or a Fitterer thing. I’m leaning towards Rhule because the ability to come in an turn things around quickly was what Rhule was known for.

Now that Rhule is gone, we are already seeing the Panthers recoup picks.

Overall, I personally feel like Fitterer was dealt a tough hand in working with Rhule and did the best he could. I’d be shocked to see the Panthers continue to trade away draft picks for under performing players hoping to turn them into competent football players.

Some will argue that Fitterer shouldn’t have taken the job if he didn’t want to work under Rhule, but the bottom line is that you don’t turn down that type of promotion… you just hope you outlast the other guy.

    • Seriously, this is the exact post that makes me lose my damn mind, because you can't separate Collegiate game from the NFL. You think college stats = NFL projections/ability The college game is littered with MONSTER stats from QB's who never make it past NFL training camps onto a roster.  I'm not saying Sanders is like that of course, but just because him and the offense put up huge numbers, doesn't mean he's a surefire elite NFL prospect. The fact that you can't or refuse to understand that, is why anything you say is severely flawed.  Bash me for my love of T-Mac, but you just can't separate college box score stats from NFL projections, which is just asinine.
    • Did anyone see, I believer it was from Cat crave blog, say Diana Russini is doubling down on her info that Bryce could be traded by the deadline? Maybe him starting is to try and up his trade value?
    • Yes, NAU "shut him down" by literally triple teaming him on almost every snap, I don't care how good you are, when you're triple teamed and your QB is playing poorly and behind an OL that gives you all of 2 seconds to make a play, that WR isn't going to do anything that game unless your coaching staff schemes him up to get quick passes, which they didn't.   Our Arizona boards have been losing their poo all season over how bad the staff is using him and their play designs/calls.   And as I've said numerous times, QB's don't get mocked by draft grades, those same experts that had Young and Stroud at the top of those mock drafts also openly admitted they didn't have them graded that high, same as this year's class. Also as I've said numerous times, look at the position label or what they say about Hunter in those mock drafts, they almost all have him listed as CB and/or discuss him as a CB in their breakdown of him, because it's his better side of the ball and where he's more likely to play.
