Robbie may have been the FOOL but DJ was out there GOING THROUGH THE MOTIONS

DJ is an average #2 WR. His ceiling is similar to Allen Robinson which is helpful when paired with a stud like Cupp. If Robinson or Moore are your #1, your offense is in trouble.

I don’t think that’s fair. I mean DJ has until this season been putting up good numbers despite terrible QB play, he’s no Steve smith, but probable a top 15 WR for sure. He’s getting paid too 10 money.

Marquise Brown

D. Smith

C. Lamb

T. Higgins

T. Lockett

Would you take DJ over any of the above? That was a quick 22 and I’m sure I’m forgetting some.

ROFL, You clearly are missing the point. But I’ll play along with your silliness, I’d take DJ over 9 players you listed.

you can’t use this season against DJ. He’s been open all fuging season, but Baker forgot the dude was on the team. Before baker when out I cannot even count how many times DJ was wide open and Baker would throw the ball at someone else. Can’t blame a proven quality WR for the crappiest QB play the Panthers have seen this side of Clausen.

I’d love to know which 9.

I’m struggling to think of plays I remember DJ jumping out as a clear #1 type receiving talent.

And for everyone pointing to clips where he’s open and not targeted, there have also been plenty of money downs where he fails to get any separation vs man coverage.

I’d like to keep DJ, but if you can get a 1st for him, then you move him. Same goes for CMC. If you can get a 1st, then you move him.

At this point, you take anything for Robbie. Moving him to a contender would be best for both parties. Maybe we can atleast get a 5th or 6th for him, with my guess being a 6th we get.

TBH, I don't know if many contending teams will want Robbie.

A 1st for DJ? Not happening…. 3rd at best

"Hey DJ and robbie we have no trust in PJ Walker, so we are gonna run screen passes and check downs to CMC all game so don't expect many passes going your way". I can see why they would be upset but I understand it from Wilks and Macado's point to that PJ is trash and they have to try to win to keep their jobs. Just a terrible situation all around.

The big difference between Steve Smith and DJ is that for better or worse Smitty always believed he could take over a game if called on and he’d get frustrated at his teammates for not coming with that same energy. DJ is talented and has been dealt a bad hand, but instead of trying to overcome the situation he checks out when the going gets rough.

WR1 has to be a constant threat to blow the game up. He’d be happier and more productive as the #2 or 3 on a team where he just does his job and clocks out for the day. The Panthers need more out of him than that.

I'm not sure any WR would be excited to be out there with an offensive plan that didn't expect to throw the ball more than 2 yards downfield.

When DJ had a QB that would at least throw the ball, he performed well. And no, Mayfield wasn't that guy.

We're a broken team, but not a miserable wreck. If someone can get under the hood here and really work at it, we could see a turnaround like the Giants and Lions are having.

It wasn't that many years back that the Rams were in the same boat we are.

Exactly. Dumbasses here want to trade the only WR we have on the team. Robby will be gone, Marshall sucks, Smith drops too. Moore is the only real WR we have. Like you said, there is only so many routes a receiver is willing to run and be wide open and not get the ball. That happening every Sunday will take the will out of any receiver. At least he isnt being a cancer like Robby.

Cancer, my ass. Robbie just isn't willing to accept losing with a smile.

    • The bottom lines to me are that a) we played well enough to beat the best team in the league and b) Bryce Young is growing into a bridge QB role (his ceiling) for us. As much as I don't want BY around after the season, it seems DC can still build the O with a game manager at QB for now. Best case scanario, we can build the D through the draft this year and take a QB we have conviction outside the 1st this or next draft. If BY keeps improving, we are going to win a couple more games this year.
    • Bryce has been a completely different QB since coming back. That started in Denver where it was obviously he was playing a lot more loose and willing to push the ball downfield  Bryce continues to build off of the previous weeks performance and that’s what you want to see Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at. Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game.  The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad
    • This KC team isn't the juggernaut it once was.  How many one score games have they won this season?  How many of those one score wins would probably have been loses if Mahomes wasn't the QB?  Their secondary is vulnerable and it was obvious today.  Grandpa Thielen was able to get open at will all game long. Bryce played well, but thinking this is the exact same KC defense Young was able to move the ball against as last year isn't going to compute.  Last year's KC defense was #2 overall.  They have regressed. I've said it before, Bryce can move the ball before the red zone, but once there, he struggles.  He is not a threat with his legs and the passing windows get much tighter.  He's not turning the ball over, so that is a great place to start and build upon.  I still question much better he can get.  Beyond a game manager?  I highly doubt it.
