So Wilks, who got shafted in Zona is trying to lose his first game? Come on man, you can say a lot of things about this game but Wilks ain’t trying to lose.

I dont know anything about anything anymore with this league, man.  Nothing is as it appears.

Again, if we're trying to win, why in the hell would you only have three forward passes through 45 minutes of gametime?  And with a guy who is 2-0 as an NFL starter and was allowed to pass downfield in both of those games and every other game he has played in...  but today, he suddenly can't pass beyond the LOS for three quarters.  I don't care if you had to start a punter at QB, you aren't playing to win of you don't even present the threat of a downfield pass for 3 quarters.

I like Wilks.  I don't know if that directive came from the top or what, but that isn't playing to win.

While the opening game-plan initially looked like it was going to be good….it did turn pretty suspect in terms of if winning was even a desired goal.   Also the game management as a whole was suspect.  I mean keeping all those timeouts going into the half?

not saying he was actually trying to lose.  Maybe the priority was to keep it respectable knowing it is all a giant shitshow.  And a brewing one (see Robbie)

Yup... 3 pass beyond the LOS through 3 qtrs and not even attempting to drive for a score with a 1:30 left and 3 timeouts in the first half.  It became clear we were just tying to get in, run clock, and get out of there with minimal damage.

And again, I like Wilks and I can't imagine him making that decision, but man, there's no way you run that gameplan thinking it'll lead to a win.  I snapped on robby during the game thread, but in hindsight, I think he was bucking at what we were doing because he knew that's what it was....  I don't think it was about touches, i think he snapped because he knew we were playing not to win.

It's a fuging shame that we're putting these guys at risk to purposely lose.  It is embarassing.

Carolina WRs - 7 total yards lol

I bet even in the legendary DeAngelo wildcat game they topped that

No joke, if I wasn't so lazy, I would look up the stats from when Kendall Hinton started at QB for the broncos.  I am almost certain he attempted more passes past the LOS than we did today.

Yeah, I mean the WRs had 7 total yards.  I mean to risk your body every play you got to try to win.

Not sure how I feel on Robbie at this point and reflecting on the game.  Probably need more info.

Robbie/DJ etc do know they can get some stuff done with DJ.   Wilks in his presser seem to not believe a forward pass was something he really wanted to do unless forced into it.

Fourth quarterback injured behind this line. At this point virtually everyone should be available for trade so we can build this oline. I don't know what the record for lowest number of passing yards in a game is but today had to have been in the area.

119 yards today. Panthers have won with 26 before.

You are starting to get it. We are not stopping this train wreck. The only hope is to keep it from getting out of hand.  We may see a few unproven players step up and show something worth keeping them around.

    • Easily. To be able to plug in a backup LT without much drop off from your starter? That could mean the difference between playoffs or sitting at home in January. Good/serviceable smart young and healthy LTs that won’t lose you a ball game at reasonable $$ don’t just come along every day. Everyone talks about the most important positions on a football team… backup LT is in the top 10.  Picture next year… the team is scrappy and competitive, 4 and 3 record, second place in the South. Morale is good. devastating run game that Let’s our marginal defense get plenty of rest. We play the Bucs and win, going to 5 and 3, but we lose Ickey to a high ankle sprain. Atl loses that week and are now at 5 and 3 as well. There is no Ickey and no BC because we let him go… and we go in to Atl the next week for a battle of first in the south. Week after that is the Jets…. Now they lose both by 10 and 3, respectively, and fall to 5 and 5 going in to their bye week. Atl is at 7 and 3. Out of typical Panthers desperation, they try to rush Ickey back in to the lineup with a saints game coming up…  Back to good old Panthers football, always playing catchup. Another season at .500 and the fans sadly rejoice in mediocrity, when playoffs were in reach. This team always overestimates its ability to pick up quality o line depth in the draft or FA and it always blows up in their faces. Like Chuba, I see him as being part of the core that Dan is trying to build. Work on his contract now and see if we can come out with something mutually beneficial. I’d consider 3 yrs at $25m to be very fair.
    • it would be great to have "double trouble" again, I even had a T- shirt for Williams and Stewart and the double trouble logo, was a great time to be Panthers fan. We shall see...
    • Sounds like a plan. Those are the teams we should be mimicking! lol
