NYPost article on John Fox...

If Fox gets fired he isn't going to take a job as a DC. First of all his salary is guaranteed for next year- all 5 million of it. So he will sit out next year and return as a head coach the following year. He doesn't need the money and with his record here will be a hot commodity. The funny thing is that if he shows up somewhere else he will have the fire back again. Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Tampa. Then we would have to face him twice a year.
just like cowher, holmgren, shanny, schottenheimer, gruden, billick...thats a good bit of competition.

not to forget more who might be in the market, like dungy (if he decides to come back), fisher (if he gets fired), phillips (if he gets fired), norv (if he gets fired), lovie smith (if he gets fired).

there is a lot of competition out there and very few jobs.

again, just like has been the case the past several seasons, the majority of the coaching jobs will go to rookie coaches. the remaining few will have people competing for it that fox's record really doesn't stand out all that much from.

in the past year there were 9 coaching changes. like i mentioned earlier...only one went to a coach with experience and even he had to start off on staff there and get promoted to the job.

fox is far form a lock as HC somewhere. there will probably be only about 5 or 6 jobs opened up in the next offseason. probably at least 4 will go to rookie coaches. the remaining couple others....cowher, shanny, holmgren. those will be at the top of the list. not fox.

It's New York.

If Coughlin finishes this season badly enough, yeah it's possible. They were close a while back before he won it.

Not saying it will happen, mind you, but it's possible.

Yep, Coughlin was close to being out and the players revolted against his rigid controls. Coughlin changed for the better and ultimately they won it all. I think he gets at least another year.

lol fox in the media
i don't know....what else is he going to do if he's not coaching? he'd be boring for sure. he'd spend 3 hours talking on the radio and never say anything.

i could see him and kirwin doing a show on sirius. i'd never listen to it cause i don't have sirius but it'd be something.

if they actually go through with that, we should drop fox like a burlap sack of medical waste and pursue him

as far as Fox in NY goes, should he be fired, yea right. John Fox belongs in a small market environment with Marty Hurney, doing what they do, without the NY media ripping the bag off of both of them, because there's no way Fox is going to bullshit his way out of a question up here. I'm not saying it's impossible for them to get hired, i'm just saying, should he somehow end up as an HC up here, I'd love to see him blurt out "a punt isn't a bad play" after a low scoring loss, and then see a caricature on the back cover of the post the next day mocking him as some sort of oafish dunce. He'll be writing his own pink slip out of the empire state as fast as he got in, and I would give him 2 years at the most before he would be fired, unless he somehow realized where the fug he was coaching and sharpened up.

If they're priming themselves to want Coughlin fired, a guy who coached the Giants to 4 straight playoff berths and a superbowl championship, I'd love to see what they're patience level is with a guy who says "well we like to go 3-1 each quarter"
