Hendon Hooker

Hooker would be good for a team that's already got a pretty good team and needs a QB on a cheap deal to come in. He has all the tools you need but he won't have a long career because of his age. He will be 25 at the time of the draft and 28 before he's settled in as a NFL QB. Crazy to think Lamar Jackson is about to get paid his first mega deal and he's 25! 🤣

Yeah that's the reality. Hooker could be Geno/Brissett in a couple years. Still a good deal for him, backup QB in the NFL for the next 6-8 years. He just has that level headed maturity thing but can actually sling it if asked. It's like Teddy with a stronger arm and can actually scramble or QB sneak

Corral has a long way to go to convince me he's an NFL roster caliber QB. The guy looked atrocious. I wouldn't be making any decisions with this roster assuming Corral is a lock to be on it.

He did, but Baker and Sam also had their worst seasons under Rhule, so that's why I think he should at least get a full offseason with actual NFL coaching. Baker will probably play again at some point so it will be interesting to see what he looks like with Rhule out of the building, not that I want Baker back but more of a coaching study

Oh, Corral will definitely get his shot to earn a spot given that he's on a cheap rookie deal. I just wouldn't be making any decisions counting on him to be on the 53. If he is, that's just a bonus. Hell, if we end up with three roster caliber QBs maybe we could even flip one for a pick or something. I'll never complain about having to make tough roster decisions. Better to have to make tough decisions than scrambling to try to find NFL caliber talent.

Yup, I'm just hoping it's a tough decision when the 53 man cut down happens. All still hypothetical obviously since we don't know if we're drafting 3rd or 10th and if PJ is gonna keep playing well or not

After his performance beating Alabama this week it'll be a name often brought up as our next QB.

I know , I know he's not from Alabama or Ohio, schools people want their qbs to come from( not too sure why, most have sucked in the NFL)..

But after Saturday yall will realize what us UT fans have known since last year, Hooker is the real deal.

I see a lot of people here gushing over Young and Stroud and they look good, not gonna lie but they are both playing behind the top 2 lines in college football. Hooker is leading the Vols behind the 32nd best O-line. So he's doing a lot more with alot less.

Bring this dude home and let's go get him in 2023.

Hooker is a one read QB in a defined read offense with a coach who is effectively QB'ing the team from the sideline.

So no, Hooker is a no go and it's not even close. I was more impressed with Stetson Bennet and his ability to go through multiple reads and place the ball precisely.

So, I'd rather have Bennett, and I don't want Bennett at all.

    • This is factually incorrect. He was a two time Pro Bowler with the Rams and in fact statistically he was better with the Rams in his best season there than he has been with the Lions(could change with this season). Some of his per game stats have creeped into being marginally better with the Lions but there have not been dramatic differences in his play, actually. The biggest reason that McVay and he ended up splitting was McVay didn't think he could win a title with Goff. TBH.....so far he was 100% correct. Stafford almost immediately won them a SB and Goff in a historic run was about 70% of the reason the Lions faltered in the NFC championship game. He missed critical throws all over the first half and throughout the second half that he normally wouldn't. He choked. So, until Goff actually does win a SB...McVay has been right.
    • they have the best defense they've had in a long time...probably the best in the reid/mahommes era.  but i think they are probably the most beatable they've been in a while as well. record doesn't exactly bear that out, but they just don't look as strong on offense as they usually do. lots of reasons for that, like trying to build chemistry with newer receivers, but right now they just aren't as frightening as they typically are. i mean they'll probably win tomorrow, but i don't see them as the strongest team in the AFC right now.
    • He will likely remain unsigned the remainder of this season(barring someone being in a pure QB panic AND making poor decisions) largely due to the cost. I do think he will get multiple offers to be a backup QB and perhaps a couple to potentially start this offseason.  I will continue to beat the same horse over and over.....he should go to a successful team with an established starter. If I were him, go to somewhere like SF, LAR, etc. Somewhere with a successful QB coach and brilliant offensive mind and ALSO a set situation at QB. Ride the pine and adjust for a year or two. Chill and be around better culture. I would suggest the same for Bryce but he will be limited to wherever we can trade him.
