Does our history with Cam prove that we do need a STAR QB if we want to win in this league?

Different era of football. The change in the way illegal contact is officiated changed the game. You're not winning Super Bowls today with the likes of Trent Dilfer or Brad Johnson.

And a lot of folks try to downplay in retrospect how good Jake Delhomme was at his best.

When we made the SB with Jake you could get away with grabbing a WR and stopping him from running his route. When the Jake led Panthers played the Eagles in our playoff run to the SB our DBs grabbed and held onto the Eagles WRs for dear life. No PI calls.

Just look at that list of QBs who won, especially the more recent SBs. We're not winning the SB with Baker Mayfield. He doesn't belong with Tom Brady, Mahomes, Manning, Wilson, Rodgers, big Ben, Burrow, ect. That's how you know if you're going to have a shot at winning the SB. Look at your QB. We'll be drafting one in 2023, or we're just idiotic.

I agree 100% but how do we go about acquiring that QB?

I would think so. Ron River would have been canned in year 3 without Cam Newton.

Remember when Justin Herbert went one pick ahead of us when we needed a QB and our scouts were in love with him? That can't happen again or we're screwed. We should have jumped over the Chargers to get Herbert, even if it meant our 2021 1st round pick was the price. We need to be prepared to move up for a QB in the draft, and trading vets for picks can help.

Overall I like our roster I believe our best way forward is to hire a young offensive guru let him pick his QB and pair with a Wade Phillips for experience and can run a good D

Yeah but the packers rarely have had a losing season with Rodgers. That’s what an elite QB does for you, your in playoff contention every season.

Yeah, the Packers are competitive year in and year out, but having had literally three decades of either Favre or Rodgers and to have come away with only two rings is significantly underperforming.

You have to have a good FO, a good coaching staff, a good QB and good talent around him. A guy doesn’t have to be a superstar to succeed,.

Matthew Stafford isn't what I'd consider as elite, just good. Furthermore, there's a difference between bad and mediocre coaching, or bad ownership that never allows a winning culture to be established because they hire and fire new coaches annually, and just can't get out of their own way.

Nearly 5000 yards and 41 passing TDs. He was definitely elite last year.
