Well, we're a QB, coaching staff, and GM away from being a competitive team then. Our roster isn't as putrid as our record.

We always say we are a few pieces away with Rhule and it’s always the same result. Decent defense (who wears down at the end of the year from being on the field too much/ offenses adjusting, bad offense performance, 5 wins, wash, rinse, repeat, Rhule collects  collect check and says we are close.

On a positive note, it’s fantastic to see decent results from our line, especially knowing that we will get better with time as this unit gels and the young guys get more experience.

If that can be maintained(OL) we will be in good shape foelr the future.

Wow, wasn't expecting that at all. I could have sworn seeing Baker run for his life more often than not. But stats are stats. Guess we'll see if we've finally gotten over the hump, or if last week was just a fluke.

credit to the staff, they emphasized improvements on the line during the off-season and it shows. i really hope baker just needs a few games to settle into a new system because it does feel like the bones are there offensively

Put an NFL coach in charge of the O Line, and suddenly they start playing at an NFL level?  Really?  If only we had known sooner!

At least the next staff knows they won't have to worry about that.  There are a couple good coaches on this staff now who have a chance of being retained assuming they continue performing.

What this does shine a light on is the fact that the players are playing and QB aside, seem to be executing their assignments.  The spotlight on scheme is growing ever brighter.

No, Baker is running for his life, for sure.  He is one of the top 5 most blitzed QB's in the league because he hasn't shown that he has the command to beat the blitz.  If he starts throwing darts while under pressure, that stat will flip.

Pass block win rate just means you blocked your guy.  If there are too many guys coming, it's on the scheme and QB to figure out what is being left open and exploiting that.

Run blocking looks impressive but for pass blocking we don't have anyone in the top 10 for OT or OG Elflein is 7th for Centers. So still average at best in that department and though Baker needs to stop playing like crap we also need to do a better job of protecting him.

It's not the players that are sinking this team outside of Baker Mayfield. If he could just at least manage the game we would have one 3 game by now. I really don't see that happening and once again Rhules desire to trade for a QB goes up in smoke.
