Lets get this straight...

While predicting the Panthers would finish below .500 before the season started. Lets look at the situation.

You have what, 4 DTs hurt?... Thomas Davis hurt... Jordan Gross hurt... these are the main injuries I know of...

You have lack of production from your receiving core, your pass defense is improved statistically, but still lose situational football.

Your ground game is half of what it was last year...

Jake is horrible as is Fox and his playcalling. You pass anytime you're tied or losing... you keep trading your future first round picks (going to be a top 15 pick this year) for some scrubby DE who lacks production of a 1st round pick... especially how high your pick is going to be this year.

You have lack of heart from the entire team and your star gets arrested?!?!

I think this about covers this failure of a panthers team this year.

DEs taken in round one

3-Chiefs-Tyson Jackson:

14 tackles, 2 pass def., 10 games started

11-Bills-Aaron Maybin:

8 tackles, 0 games started

13-Redskins-Brian Orakpo

37 tackles, 7 sacks, 2 pass def., 11 games started

16-Chargers-Larry English

17 tackles, 2 sacks, 1 FF, 0 games started

and our own everette brown...

15 tackles, 1.5 sacks, 1 pass def., 2 FF, 1 game started

seems to me that aside from the freak that is orakpo (who really should have gone in the top 5 and was a real steal by the redskins) that our first round DE pick is doing pretty well.

lots of things to complain about but this isn't one of them.

English and Jackson play two different positions than our own Brown.

English is a 3-4 OLB, Jackson is a 5 technique DE in a 3-4. Not really worth comparing those to Brown. Not being nit picky, just saying.
