Belichick surrendered?

Mr. Scot

I just don't respect a person who does both. If you're going to play the "pedal to the metal" angle, then try until the clock says 00:00. If you're going to give up in games, then take your starters out and show some mercy when you're up 59 to 0.

Belichick is just a doucher.

Just thought I'd add that this defense that was just torched is the same defense that Belichick showed 0 faith in and basically insulted by going for it on 4th and 2 a few weeks back after stopping the Colts several times. Not saying that's the only reason for their problems against the Saints, but it certainly makes you wonder if it hurt their confidence or something.

Giving up? he was looking at the bigger picture which is not getting his meal ticket injured in a game that any logical person could see there was zero chance of a come back.

Yanking Brady and crew with 5mins left really?? why is this even up for discussion.

The guy does things outside the norm and people are quick to judge and criticize.

Two things I can never respect in a head coach:

A) Running up the score

B) Giving up in a game

Belichick has now done both in one season.

It isnt a coaches job to stop his team from playing if winning, it is the other teams job. This isnt 7-8 year old kids, it is the pros. Running up the score isnt crushing some little boys fragile future.

down 21 with 5 mins left and pulling starters isnt giving up. It is knowing you got your ass beat and making sure you are healthy for next week.

I bet if the role was reversed and the pats were up and the saints pulled there starters. you would:

A. Great job by the saints to pull there starters so they dont get hurt

B. Belichick still has his starters in, what an ass he is trying to run up the score.

You can hate the guy all you want, but he is the guy you want coaching your team. Off the field he may not be a happy camper, but he is one of the best ever.

Wrong. I'd feel the same way if the roles were reversed.

And no, outside of being in the Patriots system, and having Tom Brady, I wouldn't want Belichick, same as I wouldn't want Cowher without the Steelers support structure or Mike Shanahan without John Elway. Belichick was a mediocre coach at best until Brady came along, and even that didn't happen until Drew Bledsoe got injured.

But isn't Brady Bellichick's QB and isn't that Bellichick's Patriot system? I may be wrong but I remember almost everyone questioning Belichick's decission to let Bledsoe go and stay with his unproven QB in Brady.

And as far as him not being a good coach until....

People everyday in "real life" get better at their job as each year passes and new pieces are put into place. Why can't a NFL coach be the same way?

Bellichick may not be God in the NFL coaching world and I am not his biggest fan but to question is ability as a coach is laughable.

This wouldn't of been a story ( & I use that term loosely its Florio) if this were any other head coach. It's a non issue outside of human scum Florio & PFT catering to the belichick haters.

& As for Belichick being only as good as his QB and structure, you can pretty much tie every successful head coach in NFL history to his QB the sytem and structure. + you don't think Belichick had something to do with creating that structure?

Like him or not the guy deserves some respect, the blind hatred is ridiculous

I agree with what many are saying and think he went wrong (at least in the short term) by letting Seymour, Hobbs, Vrabel, go. I know they got quite a bit for Seymour and it will probably work out well in the long run, but when you combine those three with Harrison and Bruschi retiring....that defense misses veteran leadership this year.

George Seifert has only one less Super Bowl ring as a head coach than Belichick, along with one of the highest winning percentages of any head coach in NFL history.

Anybody want him?

He hasn't coached in this decade...the game has passed him by. I wouldn't want Lombardi now either.....his coaching would stink as much as his carcass does.
