Does Tepper keep Fitt and let him hire his own coach?

Fitts is getting Rhule the players he wants based on the measurables and abilities he values. That's his job as a GM. Without Tepper in his ear, I fully believe he would have fired Rhule at the end of last year. We could have been in a better position this year.

We didn't need a QB competition. It was over the minute Baker was acquired. We were already behind on OTA's but yet Rhule still felt the need to play Walker more than anyone else in preseason. That was stupid. Playing time is more effective than practice or study time.

We didn't need a oline competition. We drafted a LT specializing in run blocking, so naturally we've become a pass heavy offense. We brought in a new center and guard, but still keep playing the Elf and have Jordon active on gameday despite him being god awful. Rhule spent a long time trying people all over the place to end up exactly where we all knew we would before camp even started.

We kept 7 WRs but only play 2 or 3. What's the point. We have a guy in Higgins who gets crazy separation but he never sees the field.

Hurney got Bridgewater, paid him 60 mil then dumped him after 1 season. We overpaid to get Darnold, gave him the 5th year, but that's the guy Rhule wanted.

We have Chinn being played out of position after winning 2 DRotM and he should have been DROY. Burns is being dropped back into coverage constantly as our only real pass rusher.

We have the worst pass catching offensive piece fielding kickoffs and surprise, surprise, he fumbles. Do you think Fitts drafted Chuba to be a kickoff specialist?

Our offense is boring. This is basic offense 101 and it sure as hell looks like it. There's no creativity, no innovation, nothing. We have one of the most explosive RBs in the NFL and we don't use him in the passing game where he's excelled.

We traded a 3rd rounder for CJ. Based on his talent set, that's a good trade. Jacksonville was a crapshow and Meyer wanted him gone. Even if he is average, that's worth it for that pick and remainder of his contract. If he turns into more, because of his rd 1 measurables, then we win.

Almost our entire coaching staff is from either Baylor or Temple. There's little to no NFL experience here.

This team was gutted of players and 2 drafts is not going to fix all of that. There's talent on  this team. There are pieces that are good if they get put in a position to succeed. Fitts has gotten Rhule who he wanted. He's doing the job he was hired to do by Tepper, get Rhule his players for a 7 year rebuild. It's not his fault Rhule has no idea what to do with them. Are they all perfect or all working out? Of course not. At the end of the day, you have to have someone who is more than a college coach to succeed in the NFL and we definitely do not have that.

This team is boring, bland, with no innovation, no motivation, no swag and a coach who's 3-4 weeks slower on realizing basic NFL concepts than fans from a message board. Saying this is Fitts fault is an overreaction. He's made mistakes. Every NFL GM has. But to say he's responsible for the ongoing stupidity of Rhule isn't fair. This is Tepper's man and only he is going to get to say when he's fired. A real NFL coach is put in charge and this team goes from 3-5 wins to 8-9 this year, and the future is looking brighter.

Soooo.... what you're saying is...

"He might not suck if not for Matt Rhule."

Put everything in Tepper's hands and you may as well be rolling the dice.

That's just the reality of hiring a new GM in this league.  Nobody has 100% hit rate.  GMs fail all the time.  Even if Tepper hires a consultant to hire the GM, or a team president.. how does he find a good candidate for that position?

At a certain point it starts with the owner hiring someone.

Thanks for confirming. "He might not suck if not for Matt Rhule" is literally the entire defense.

Are you prepared to argue that Matt Rhule might be better without Scott Fitterer?

For that matter, other than "well, its all the same" (which is a flatly ridiculous statement) I have yet to hear you give me a good reason why I should trust that David Tepper is going to put the right people in place after we clean house...

And you saw what happened the last time the owner "hired someone".

Keep in mind also this is the same owner who wants to do things differently just so he can show everybody that he's smarter than they are.

You really think it's wise to put that guy in charge of our future?

He already is.  Its irrelevant.  He's the owner either way.  Where's the argument for keeping Fitterer around?  What personnel moves has he made that give you any confidence?

He won 5 games with Hurney. He won 5 games with Fitts. He might not even manage that many again this year.

Your argument makes zero sense. You say you have no trust in Tepper to put the right people in place when he's the one who put Fitts in place but you're all in on Fitts just like you were on Gettleman. If we fire him, we'll still have you defending awful moves he made years from now. 😂

Again, are you actually talking about Fitterer or are you strictly talking about me? Because if you're just talking about me you're ducking the argument.

I'd add you're the one telling me that we should trust in Tepper to build the whole thing up from scratch. I'm asking you to defend that, but so far you're not even trying.

I'm talking about Fitts while poking fun at your tendency to dig in on certain stances and argue them for years even when everyone else has moved on amd accepted that yeah, that dude sucked.  😂

Listen, I liked Gettleman too and thought we screwed up firing him but hindsight clearly showed he deserved to be fired though reinstating Hurney was beyond idiotic.

Like it or not, were tied to Tepper. He's the owner. He hired Fitts. That's why I'm so baffled with you acting like him hiring a GM would be so awful while defending Fitts who was hired by Tepper. You're essentially arguing against yourself.

He's got two drafts in the books which include players that I like. Among them Ickey, Horn, Christensen, Tremble and Taylor.  It's objectively too soon to truly judge those picks, but I like them so far.

We've also got two free agency periods, one without Dan Morgan and one with. The one with Morgan is the one I like a lot better. It netted us guys like Corbett, Ionnaidis and Foreman. Mind you, last year wasn't totally bereft of talent either. We got a guy who looks like a real keeper in Frankie Lulu.

Now, are you going to tell me all of those guys are worthless?
