Hate on Sam all you want but there is a real possibility we would be 2-0 right now with Darnold. Before you think I’m crazy, there is at least precedent that Darnold can beat the bad teams when everyone including CMC is healthy as evidenced by our 3-0 start last season. The Giants and the Browns are the same level quality of the first three teams we played last season.

Also, it’s a indisputable fact that Darnold looked miles better than Baker when you compare the first two games of the season, both stats and film prove this.

And this might be a cheap shot, but Darnold didn’t at least choke against his former team the Jets like Baker did against the Browns. Sorry not sorry

We have a half decade of football that shows Sam Darnold is at his worst when he has time.

Time gives Sam more time to think and it always goes predictably bad in the end.   He doesn’t see and read a field well.  His throws are consistently late.

Sam can at least win against bad teams and didn’t choke against his former team. More than I can say for Baker.

should I come in here and give me schpil about baker being trash to begin with while you all were comparing him to Brees? Sam nor baker are the answer they’re rejects and trash. And they look horrid under an inept coach

Rhule can’t fuging draft an develop a fuging qb if he can’t even develop a team that can win a game and he knows it

he is trying desperately for a cheat code, a vet he doesn’t need to put fundamental effort in and it shows big time, and no worthwhile vet would ever play for Rhule, he’s a fuging amateur

the future of the franchise is a new coach a high draft pick. a plug and play vet won’t play here. Why can’t we just fuging get this poo out of the way already fug

Panthers had good game plans for Sam’s debut.  But teams quickly figured it out it was over after that.   On top of that, they were all 3 uniquely bad opponents.  2 bad teams debuting rookie QBs and a covid/hurricane team.   Which means they weren’t NY/Browns caliber teams even.  Way worse.

Only win after teams figured out how were hiding Darnold and opponents were comically bad was Atlanta.  Where we ran for 200 yards against a horrible run defense.  Sam meanwhile threw for like 100 yards and a 50% completion rate.

Lets bring in another QB for 1 year then burn him at the stake when he cant make chicken salad out of chicken poo in two weeks.

Everyone we have brought in with a NFL resume has ended up being exactly who they already proven to be.

Teddy was Teddy.  Sam was Sam.

Now Baker will be Baker.  A QB who doesn’t elevate anything around him.  That will be good and bad. ….with a horrible OC.  Who will be what the NFL said he was too.

The Rhule motto to be continuously wishing that people won’t be what they have proven to be

The Browns and Giants aren’t the same level of opponent.

they weren’t debuting rookie QBs.  Nor was half their coaching staff out and been displaced for weeks.

You guys are funny.

Mayfield hasn't been the problem thus far. Just like he wasn't the problem in Cleveland. Go re-watch the drives from this weekend. They're killed by fumbles, penalties and drops. I thought it was Mayfield during the game, but I rewatched every offensive snap, some a few times, and I reversed course.

For all the experts on Mayfield's past, from a former CLE fan for 30+ years:

Just look at Cleveland's loss last night, and near loss to the Panther's game 1, blowing 4th quarter leads is their speciality.

The narrative that Mayfield can't elevate a team is so oxymoronic. He literally took a winless team to 7 wins, instantly. Repeated it, again, in a historically bad circumstances in 2019, then pushed that team to 11 wins. And when hurt, that same team fell to 8-9. By simple Math Mayfield has been shown to add 3-7 wins.

It's fuging math.

Just stop repeating that cliche. It's just not true.

    • I like Barron a lot but I don’t see it happening with our FO’s preferences.  Although his ability to flex between outside CB, slot and FS make him like a jacked up Sainristil with a bit of the Witherspoon gene. He could be exactly what we need but no one’s really talking about him for us.  Think your autocorrect may have changed out Will Johnson — who I also like but his man coverage skills worry me a tad this high in the draft. And injuries.
    • I want Donavon Ez and/or Derrick Harmon - one is the best finesse edge rusher in the draft with one of the most nuanced games I’ve seen from an OLB, and the other is the most balanced disruptor in the vein of H Ngata - most pressures, 2nd highest DL in pressure rate last year. An absolute force, with the production to backup.  We’re chasing and chatting these spotty upside guys, TEs, or skill positions guys with legit holes in their game. I feel like these two (and maybe even Kenneth Grant) are ripe for the picking and will not disappoint.  Pounding the table for all three, but I don’t expect to get any of them.
    • I would counter that guys like Carter who have popped in those same loaded defenses didn't need the qualifying statements about "being loaded." It's easy to see the potential, however his theoretical ceiling is definitely lower than a guy like Shemar Stewart. But that isn't the whole story, is it? Why do you think Williams will develop where other prospects will not? Especially when he has been largely a top tier edge setter and nothing close to that as a pass rusher in his college career? He has been VERY consistent in his three years in college.
