I figured the truth was something less than what was described here, but even then it's pretty dysfunctional. The immediate removal of Snow leans that way, though it could simply be something like Snow being unwilling to finish the season of Rhule gets hired and Wilks cutting him loose now.

I think the plan was to clean house of anything related to this story if the ship didn't correct itself. I don't think Wilks had a say in Snow, I think he was as good as gone as soon as Rhule was.

 

Putting Wilks in charge was to save the locker room before it was too late, nothing else. I don't see him remaining HC after this year unless he manages to get us in the playoffs.
