I know we crap on Baker for batted balls but I think you’re seeing more across the league because I’ve noticed a number of interior guys seem to be coached that if you’re not gonna win the pass rush, stop where you are and just watch and elevate.

Use to be everyone pinned their ears back 24/7

They've always been coached to do that. They're taught the from high-school.  You just don't notice when they miss.  Baker just seems to have more than anyone since he's been in the league.  I'm not sure it all has to do with his height.

They're also getting penalties for textbook QB hits so goodbye DE's actually trying to sack the QB every snap, wait til they're scrambling and gently push them over

I know the concept of getting your hands up but there are guys not going forward at all and just waiting

Honestly with this roughing the passer crap it’s probably safer to do that instead of pass rushing

I have not noticed anything that jumps out to me that would indicate a trend toward stopping the rush to get their hands up beyond normal.  Maybe some coaches have figured out tells that are qb specific or situational keys. I really do not get into it enough nor care enough to figure out Bakers tell but I'm sure there is one.

    • The point is taken regarding down the round QBs doing well.  The thing is that draft order is for all rounds. The higher the better obviously (fuging travesty about our 2nd rounder especially if it is number 33). For trading value if nothing else, which I what I'd want to do with a top 3 pick if we can get there. And get a later guy, and if you want to get back up somewhere you have the currency.

    • Few things, I don't care about what happens to Bryce as long as we win. However, During the two years Bo Nix was with Oregon, they were among the best teams in the country. Also, Bo really only had one year of elite production. For most of his career, he was an average, almost undrafted-level talent. Had he entered the 2022 draft, he likely would have been a second or third-day pick, despite being older than Bryce.
