Yep. In these modern spread offenses when the other team blitzes the ball either has to come out immediately or you have to have the ability to make a guy miss or otherwise buy a little time. You're just not going to have enough blockers. You don't necessarily have to be a runner but the pocket statues have fallen out of favor.

Certainly, and yet you don't elite mobility to have elite pocket presence.... But I'll agree you will probably never see a successful statue like Drew Bledsoe again.

Guess what? You don't have to use a stupid spread offense.

Establish the run and use play action. If you execute you won't lose.

What's stupid about it? All the top offenses are that way. With the way the game is called these days it's the most efficient way to move the ball. I you don't have a good QB then run the ball and play stall ball. But if you have a legit QB spread it out and make the other team try to match up and keep up.

the older I got, the more I wanted 4pm starts. Never was a big roll out of bed and grab a beer fellow. In fact I had a rule at one point given my family's history with booze, none before noon/lunch.

Funny deal, not many years ago for a 4pm start. I screwed up my "pre-gaming" and passed out just before the start. embarrassing plus i was caught by a friend whom used it against me for the next few months...

Watching the Giants become a competent team due to a coaching change makes me both sad and hopeful.  Sad that we struggled this year, and hopeful that if we get the right coach, we might not need major changes to become a winning team.  Giants were as bad as we were last year, and they could be 5-1 with a win today.
