The league doesn't allow teams to just fake injuries. There has to be an actual medical report.

Sure, there's things that aren't so easily verifiable, but you can't exactly fake a broken finger.

I don't think anyone believes it's actually a fake injury; more along the lines of an excuse to bench him (as it is probably something he could and would play through).

I went back and watched the play in question last night and there may have been some "hand to hand" contact. However, Jake never once winced or acted like he was in pain, I find that hard to believe, not even one shake of the hand.

It was the the fourth down jump ball that Jarrett somehow came down with.

that was a nice surprise. i'd like to see him do more of that.

Yes, the finger is broken, but not by a defender's hand, but by a ballpein hammer in Fox's office late Sunday night after the team returned from NY and everyone else had gone home. After some intense love-making, Fox pulled out the hammer and said "you know, it kills me to do this, but we have no other choice." To which Jake replied, after pulling that Pulp Fiction ball-gag thing from his mouth, "go ahead coach, I understand."

And so here we are.
