....Look, the guy plays..trys hard each and every week. His career as a starter is probably over, and now he has a thumb injury so I doubt even after he comes back will he play. Its sad, and mind boggling how he went from being really good, to really...REALLY bad...He is the best QB we've ever had..and now..its over.

I'd have much rather seen him fail to come back after the surgery. He could have called it a career and we'd have fond memories of him. He deserved a better way to leave the team and league. He was never a super-star, but he sure had his moments when he played like one.

It's valid that it's hard to feel bad for him given that his overall situation is pretty good.

Do I wish his story would have had a better ending? Yes.

Do I feel like he's owed more gratitude than he generally receives for his contributions to the team? yes.

Does all of that add up to "feeling bad" for him? Depends on how you define it, I guess.

Income shouldnt be the only standard on wether you should feel pity or not.

It should if it keeps your team from being able to do anything monumental; monetarily speaking.
