Did the Baker and offense struggle for almost 3 quarters, yes.

Did the team struggle stopping the run and tackling for more than a half, yes.

Has CMC played at all this preseason? No. 

Did they put all it together and almost win it, yes. 

Missed FG and its bright spots and sunshine instead of gloom and doom.

Game 1. Let's see how they respond in NY.

 

But I will say the fans at the stadium were bringing the noise when it was needed.

 I would not. To even be close to a Browns team lead by the backup QB at home and pull a rabbit out of a hat after sucking for three straight quarters it is nothing to jump for Joy about. It would have been a typical Rhule win, where he only gets wins against terrible teams. That did not happen however, and we lost one of the easier games on our schedule this year while continuing to make an absolute joke of our “home field  advantage”.

Absolutely not - what an absurd premise. A missed FG or last-second win because the Browns wanted to lose more than Carolina does not wash away the awfulness of the first half and other ineptitudes observed yesterday and for the last 2 years. Let's see what week 2 holds in store.

Yeah...it wasn't just the loss.

How absolutely terrible, uncoordinated and unprepared we looked on both sides of the ball is way more worrisome than the final score.

I mean, if you want to throw a "what if" in there, I'd be tempted to go with "what if the defense didn't lay down like a welcome mat for their running game"

So last year we got the first 3 games to pretend we didn't suck, and this season we didn't even get 1.  That's basically what it comes down to.

If the O line didn’t look like one of the worst in the league for a third year, if we didn’t have more botched snaps l/batted passes than a high school game, if we had a full game of solid QB play, if we were to get big production out of CMC, if the D line didn’t look worse than last year against a statue backup QB, if our linebackers looked like they belonged in the NFL, if Henderson didn’t tackle a WR 5 seconds before the ball arrived wiping out an end zone pick, we would all be singing a different tune.

I don’t think you watched the game.  If he missed that field we would still be deflated.  The team wasn’t prepared, the D was putrid, clock management was freaking terrible (hello time out).  Even if we had won that game, there wasn’t much to at all to be excited about

It was such an epically poorly coached game. If we won then it would be less obvious to some but that ugly turd was going to remain the ugly turd it was. Even by opening week sloppy football standards it was a turd.

I didn't say everything would be fine. I said the narrated would be different meaning "whew, we got a way with one there. At least they fought back to cover up how bad they played" or something along those lines.

Missed FG or not they still gave up over 200 yards on the ground. Their last go ahead possession we watched them not even try for a TD and instead ran against a stacked box until Pinero kicked the FG. Down by 2, and Rhule only wanted 3. I would have preferred at least a shot at 6/7. No way that CLE offense was going to drive the length of the field and score a TD

I have watched a replay of the game twice now (thanks NFL+) and man….. we had 2 pass plays drawn up there at the end before the field goal. That damn bobbled snap…. We would have had both shi open and CMC 1v1 against the safety. Damn it. 
 

the 3rd down we had an RPO drawn up but the browns triple teamed Moore.
