The ones who look sh-tty do.

Sorry dude, but there is no spin in the world that could make what we saw yesterday look any better.

This is the NFL,and unfortunately our head coach isn't qualified to coach in it.

Scot I have read this place for about as many years as it has been here and your thing has Always Been bitching about every coach we have had. Ditto the GM. Just always. First sign of trouble you are on that train cranking it up.

I stand by my poo. And wasn’t in favor of hiring Rhule nor acquiring Mayfield and don’t care if he is fired.   And a lot of stuff Rhule has done or not done.

The fact is that yesterday with some better execution by any number of guys, that game is won good coaching or bad coaching. And all of the play wasn’t bad and this team is going to get better if they stay healthy.
As if it could be worse, who couldn’t be better than that?  Yes I saw it too. If they have that 1st half display again then fug them because a bad day is one thing, a pattern of them is unacceptable. The batted passes are especially scary.

But nobody really knows crap for sure after one game as far as who will be there at the end though I am pretty sure we won’t be. But we could be as good as a team that is playoff bound as a wild card if we improve as the year goes on. Maybe knock a team out. My best hope would be that and it is where I am looking for enjoyment. We probably ain’t going to the playoffs lol. Peace.

Giants ran for 200+ yards and Barkley avg 9 yards a carry.    So I wouldn’t say they looked as bad as us. They also held Derrick Henry and the Titans rush attack under 100 yards

Jones sucks but they can’t be expected to solve that at this point

All those yards came when and they still only scored 21 points right??

Again, Matt Rhule literally addressed the mindset at the end of the game and the discussion they had.

they were content letting the Browns get the ball back with a minute and played it that way.  Which is what I said they did.   I just used the phrase scared and balled up in the fetal position instead of going for the win/first down

And after another fumbled snap on 1st down I didn't blame him for trusting the defense could hold them..

As much as I would like to blame Rhule and Elf, I think most of the fumbles and even a couple of sacks were on Baker Mayfield. As much as reporters were saying that Mayfield was calm and collected, his play says otherwise. I know he was anxious/scared and he played that way without energy for 3 quarters. Don't discount the batted balls too.

The good news is that he did at least give us a chance to win the game. The sh*tty truth is that the Browns were more mentally tough and made a game winning drive when they needed to. Panthers are mentally soft and weak which is on the head coach.

Again how many reps did Aaron Rodgers,  Joe Burrows, Dak Prescott, Kyler Murray,  and other QBS who struggled week 1 have?? Either your going to answer.. Which is You don't know.. And realize week 1 is always like this for alot of Qb and offenses..

Especially 1's with new OC, New Olines, New QB..

You're not wrong, The optimism just seems completely unwarranted based on the fact each of the QBs listed above went to the postseason last year and have had some history of success with their coaching staff. Ours goes through QBs like teenage boys go through tissues. There is reason to believe that their coaching staff will regroup and improve going into next week. What reason do we have to expect any improvement?

We currently have the longest losing streak in the NFL and we just let the Browns win their first opener in 18 years with a backup QB. This isn't just an indictment of the QB and how that whole thing was managed, it's an indictment on how the whole team has been managed over the past 3 seasons.

We go on the road to a team in NY who embarrassed us last year with no offensive weapons at their disposal, and they ended up canning their crappy coach who beat our crappy coach then hired a guy with a much better resume than our crappy coach. They also have a healthy Saquon Barkley, and our run defense was poo this past week, so I'm anticipating more of the same.

Giants win 31-17

my questions for rhule:

how much time did brissett have with the browns first team?

how much time did we spend on a "competition" that everyone knew would result in baker starting?

he was only 30-40 days? yes....but how many of those days did he lose snaps with the first team in that "competition"?

you KNEW baker was going to be the starter.

you KNEW you only had 30-40 days.

time was short and you chose to ignore that to play your little coaching game.

you KNEW that you were putting up a rookie OL in his first start against one of the best DEs in the game....and you still 1) had him take part in a competition that was unnecessary losing needed reps and 2) left him alone for half the game against that premier DE.

there is a long list of things that you KNEW were issues or would be issues but you kept to your bigger plan...whatever that is. good for you...you stuck to your guns. but the team loses because you are looking at too big of a picture.

and if you didn't know these were or would be issues then you're a fool because everyone could see it.

you aren't doing things that result in wins. until you do...you're a failure. winning is all that matters.

The team had invested a lot in Sam and he supposedly put in a ton of work in the offseason. With Baker's history of attitude, I don't have a problem making him earn his spot. It went on too long IMO. However,

How does he look sharp in the last preseason game and then regress in the two weeks afterwards where he got ALL THE REPS?

The answer is that he didn't. His nerves got the best of him and he shat the bed in the first half. Did he get better in the second half because he finally achieved the magical number of reps?
