Baker didnt struggle yesterday due to a playbook though... he struggled bc the Browns knew to stand up at the line, and we couldnt stop Garrett. We also had 2 costly penalties that killed drives.

The competiton didnt effect whether Baker was here for 40 days or 1 day. Baker has been here since he was traded for.

It's not about Baker but Rhule. He admits he has only been here a little time and has set him up for failure.

You are way off the point and are defending something that there isn’t a fight over. Baker isn’t the biggest problem in Pantherlan. He wasn’t set up for success and they didn't call the plays in a way where he can thrive. Hint, it's not in a pass heavy O. This is all Rhule bashing and he earned it by being a crap HC.

lol. The tweet of quoting Rhule was complimenting Baker for picking up the playbook so fast within a 30-40 day period. Rhule wasnt saying Baker was a problem. That is the context I am referring to.

Media types get to state whatever they want and do not get held accountable. Its pretty ridiculous.

You still can't see it and that is so much funnier. There is no media fuggery here, not that I can see. He is using the timeframe in the quote to suggest how clueless and craptastic Rhule is. That is zero slight to Baker but the coach.

All Rhule had to say was Baker improved and got the lead back. Instead he opens his mouth and eventuslly runs into some BS he just said or did. It's his thing and it doesn't apear he will ever change.

what? The title of this thread is "Rhule on QB struggles yesterday" and then the tweet "Matt Rhule: “We are talking about playing with a quarterback who has been here 30 to 40 days”

Rhule wasnt talking about Baker struggling, he was stating that he thought Baker did well for being here for such a short period of time. I have no idea what you are attempting to state here.. this whole thing is misleading.

He needs a run game. It sets up his good playaction and covers his deficencies. His 4 years in Cleveland proved that.

yeah, and Baker probably should have handed off a bit more. However, I get it... he wanted to pick apart the browns... the story just didnt end that way. In the 2nd half, baker chose to give the ball to the backs more frequently. We actually went away from the RPO for a drive or two in the third.

So we didn’t waste weeks of valuable reps on the worst starting QB of 2021 and PJ Walker?

Again how many reps did Aaron Rodgers,  Joe Burrows, Dak Prescott, Kyler Murray,  and other QBS who struggled week 1 have?? Either your going to answer.. Which is You don't know.. And realize week 1 is always like this for alot of Qb and offenses..

Especially 1's with new OC, New Olines, New QB..

He will thrive with a heavy run game. His best year they ran 4th most yards. Other years were 4th, 12th and 13th. It really isn't hard or malicious. Just run the ball.

Do you ever get tired of making these excuses for a head coach with back to back 5 win seasons who lost to every head coach that was fired?

    • well, the comparison is to last year.  The OL is a 180 degree from that.... and overall on the season they have had better skill talent for the same QBs behind a MUCH better OL.    So yeah, the O not looking any better overall is a red flag for Canales.
    • I just want somebody to settle into that Hangartner role and I may give Mays too much credit. He played so well early and has fell off since injuries crept into his vocabulary.  He was struggling to get push on those goal line runs today.
    • You cannot say it doesn't matter who is playing QB ever in any circumstance. The first two games of the season, Bryce was standing in the pocket with time missing throws left and right. We were running the ball well, but even the gimme throws Canales was setting up, Bryce was missing. Then you start Dalton, boom easy win at Las Vegas. By week four's end, three of our best defenders are seriously injured, center injured, 2nd best veteran WR hurt, and best veteran WR quitting on the team.  Canales is a rookie head coach, and he definitely has had some see what sticks moves. But players are being schemed open, the rookies are progressing nicely, and you have the albatross of some terrible lack of talent to phase out. I give him credit alone for pulling Mingo, Thomas, and going with the better/younger producing players. The scheme is better, he just needs better players and I am not going to write him off until he gets more talent, starting with QB!
