Fire Rhule and beg Like to come fill in as coach rest of the season. Hopefully he gets the coaching bug and likes it. If he likes it offer him a contract and build a staff for him.

Supposed to say "Luke". I wasn't joking by the way. This guy may be a damn football genius God. What better way to find out than to get him as interim coach and see how the players take to him while seeing if effort goes up and just general in game coaching decisions get smarter. If he would decide to be a coach (I don't think he is interested unfortunately though) it could be a perfect storm and there is NO WAY IN HELL he is worse than Rhule. My money is on he is significantly better and also coaches with a fire Rhule couldn't have while also having major respect of th players due to him being there just recently and him knowing what they all go through while also doing it at a very high level when he did do it.

Just now, Mr. Scot said:

I'm thinking Meyer might have set the mark last year.

We have the Giants on the road and then Saints at home next two up.  If we are 0-3 at that point with the schedule only getting harder, Tepper should pull the trigger.  Will he?  Probably not.  Tepper will run this organization further into the ground trying to prove that Rhule was not a bad hire.

George Allen was fired after 2 preseason games in 1978

Jack Patera was only two games into his seventh year with the Seahawks in 1982

Joe Collier only made it two games into the 1968 (AFL) season before the Bills fired him.

Hugo Bezdek was fired by the Rams after just three games into the 1938 season

I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility that losing to the Giants will be the last of Matt Rhule in Carolina

Only problem being Tepper--"brass balls Tepper"-- is a little attached to his boy Rhule.  You would think a hedge fund guy would be somewhat ruthless, personal feelings aside.  After all, business is business.

You guys do realize Rhule is NOT getting fired any time soon right? As much as I wish that were not the case this guy may be here the WHOLE DAMN SEASON but I am willing to bet he wouldn't be fired until at least about 12 or 13 games into the season and that is a HUGE MAYBE. I'm guessing his goofy ass lasts the whole year unfortunately!

The boo birds were out in force you could clearly hear that yesterday.

Community support for Rhule is almost zero.

Tepper would be well respected by everyone including Rhule who would go away skipping happily away with a fortune.

He's probably been expecting the ax. Where are the brass balls NOW? Oh, prosthetic brass balls on a desk aren't as tough as real balls huh?

I really tried to give Matt Rhule a chance but I keep seeing the same mistakes ever since he was hired in 2020. Run defense is still terrible, penalties, clock management, and the team looked unprepared. I think this team has talent we just need the right coach. I also believe that if Rhule is fired this year we are 100% drafting a QB in 2023 even if we have to move multiple draft picks to move up and get one.

    • The bottom lines to me are that a) we played well enough to beat the best team in the league and b) Bryce Young is growing into a bridge QB role (his ceiling) for us. As much as I don't want BY around after the season, it seems DC can still build the O with a game manager at QB for now. Best case scanario, we can build the D through the draft this year and take a QB we have conviction outside the 1st this or next draft. If BY keeps improving, we are going to win a couple more games this year.
    • Bryce has been a completely different QB since coming back. That started in Denver where it was obviously he was playing a lot more loose and willing to push the ball downfield  Bryce continues to build off of the previous weeks performance and that’s what you want to see Bryce has been making some real good anticipation throws. Reading defenses well. Pushing the ball downfield (7 throws of 20+ air yards yesterday. 8 if you want to include PI to Thielen). The deep ball accuracy has been there. Some of Young’s best throws yesterday were incompletions. Sideline balls to XL and Moore both should’ve been caught. RZ dot to Tremble should’ve been caught. And another RZ ball to Moore that Young gave him a chance at. Bryce is starting to execute Canales offense and yesterday Canales finally opened it up a bit. Canales was to blame for the 126 passing yards in Germany as he played a more conservative game.  The next bit I’m looking for his for Young to be a bit more decisive with running the ball. Start putting that on film and it’ll help open things up a tad
    • This KC team isn't the juggernaut it once was.  How many one score games have they won this season?  How many of those one score wins would probably have been loses if Mahomes wasn't the QB?  Their secondary is vulnerable and it was obvious today.  Grandpa Thielen was able to get open at will all game long. Bryce played well, but thinking this is the exact same KC defense Young was able to move the ball against as last year isn't going to compute.  Last year's KC defense was #2 overall.  They have regressed. I've said it before, Bryce can move the ball before the red zone, but once there, he struggles.  He is not a threat with his legs and the passing windows get much tighter.  He's not turning the ball over, so that is a great place to start and build upon.  I still question much better he can get.  Beyond a game manager?  I highly doubt it.
