It only looked good because of his play in the 1st half. He started looking better but I would not call it great. Good enough to win if he hadn't played like ass in the first half.  But the loss is not all on him. It was a team effort.

It looked great because he played great in the second half and how he played in the first is completely irrelevant in judging how he played in the second half.   Not saying he will be our franchise qb, but for one half of football, he played great.  I mean completing 75% of your passes under constant pressure for a 150 yards is great.

Inconsistent. Why didn't he play TWO good halves? The story of his whole career.

This is Baker's 4th system in 5 years. What his body of work shows is that he rallies his team and is a good leader on the field. He took Cleveland and made them a playoff team. He is going to do the same thing for us if not this year then next. But your boy Corral needs to keep learning to eventually take over. But intangibles like fire and heart is what takes an athletic qb and makes them a franchise qb. You need to stop trying to criticize Baker as if it has any Impact on what happens to Corral.

This is stupid. My thoughts on Baker and especially his play today have absolutely nothing to do with Corral. Zero!

I'm not drinking the Baker Kool-Aid simply because you think that I should. He wasn't good enough today, and obviously the Browns (and, I don't know, maybe 30 other FOs) weren't gorging on the Baker Kool-Aid as much as you.

I said that he's going to have to play better, and that's what I mean. His career has been decidedly average. Make all the excuses you want to in the world, and it's not going to change the bottom line. If Baker doesn't show much better than he did today, then he won't be getting an opportunity to lead us anywhere next season. I'm rooting for him, but I expected better than we got today. Maybe next week.

Baker today: 235/1/1/ 88 QBR

Sam Game 1 2021: 279/1/0 102 QBR

Both 1 rushing TD. Sam's game against the Jets was more impressive last year just stat wise but for some reason I feel much better about Mayfield today. Maybe its because he looked so bad first half then was able to put it together and lead us back vs Sam played ahead all last year and I was more worried about him just imploding (which he did eventually). Will be interesting to compare again after 3 games which is where Sam started to fall apart.

I already see we are going to have posters that originally were down on Baker stay down on him when he plays well. I know we will have the opposite as well. I feel most rational people think he did his part today and willed them into a position to win the game (only to be let down by his coach and defense).

If Baker actually hits Shi as opposed to throwing the crucial pick, that may have changed a loss into a win. He was as much a part of this loss as anyone.

Baker is going to have to play better. Does he have it in him? Maybe. He's going to have to prove that he's a franchise QB, just like anyone. Some of you need to raise your expectations. If we had won, it would have been an ugly win. It was not a dominant performance. Maybe Baker will have one next week.

    • We could easily pick apart yesterday’s game: dropped passes, blown coverages, bad tackling and red zone issues to name a few. But it was clear that this wasn’t the same team from earlier in the season. They fought back and hung with the champs until the end. That’s what I was excited to see and it gives me hope that we’re on the right track.
    • I think BY played well today and exceeded expectations. I will temper future expectations as he has to string together many games of consistent quality. One game doesn’t convince me that he is a franchise QB or even a guy you want to stick with for another season. One game doesn’t erase all the negative play and limitations from the past couple of years. I hope he balls out and continues to get better but for me the verdict is still out   That said, I think he gave the team and fans hope yesterday which is a lot more than what we had when we woke up Sunday morning.
    • He was vastly improved today and we need to see more of Bryce the rest of the season to continue evaluate him in order to decide what the heck to do with him at the end of the season. He must play at least like this and improve more from here the rest of the season in order for me to keep him. No more 123 yard passing games and want to see at least this output weekly from him. If this is Bruce improving slowly over time then Canales is even better with developing QB's than I thought he was but still too early to tell and we need to see him the rest of the way as he has at very least earned back the starting gig moving forward.
