I know a lot are excited to see Baker against Cleveland D

personally I want to see Eke against Garrett. Garrett is THE BEST DE in the business, his dominance reminds me of a prime Julius Peppers. If Eke gets help and keeps him from disrupting the day then I’ll be very excited. If he holds Garrett to 1 sack or less I’ll be very impressed.

who calls him Eke...?

Most critical outside of Baker and our OL is definitely our run defense. I expect Chubb and Hunt to have success against our run D but we need to mitigate the damage significantly better than our run D from last year if we want to win. I think this offense is going to take a few months to really gel and the defense will need to prove itself early if we're going to be a true playoff contender.

Someone posted yesterday that we were 8th last year in yards per carry. Now to me? That's pretty respectable. I don't understand why so many around here seem so down on the run D?

Me and my TV with fargin PANTHERS FOOTBALL on it!

But the "matchup" I'll be anxious to see is not the normal "them vs. us."  I want to see how Baker matches up with a healthy CMC who matches up with a revamped O-line.

So, I guess it's our healthy/revamped O against their D.

    • Did I miss something?  The people we have developing players now are not the ones we've had in the past so I don't know what the heck people are talking about when they say we are not good at developing players right now.  We only have one year to go on.  Canales likes young players or players who are on an upward trajectory, especially in FA this year.  Past QB's and what he's done with Bryce are good examples. Tershawn Wharton - 26 Tre'von Moehrig - 25 Pat Jones II - 26 Bobby Brown III - 24 Michael Jackson - 28 Jaycee Horn - 25 Tommy Tremble - 24 We missed on Milton Williams but he's 26. Everyone else we picked up are on 1 year deals.  The Panthers new front office and Canales absolutely scream developmental team. Pick 8 (stay) Tier 1 Elite - Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter and Mason Graham Tier 2 Elite - Jalon Walker, Mykel Williams, Will Johnson Trade down: There are quite a few really good players that fit us at Edge, DT, S and WR mid to late 1st and high 2nd.  Some combos that would be possible that I really like.  Imagine getting 2 of these guys by trading down. Stark, Pierce Jr, Golden, Scourton, Grant, Emmanwori, Ezeiruaku, Umanmielen, Deone Walker, Harmon and this is just off the top of my head.
    • Honestly, I couod see Pittsburgh  moving all the way to 3 to get Sanders. Their window is now and Tomlin  clock is ticking. Their roster doesn't have many holes, so picks shouldn't worry them.  Depends on the Giants mindset but they could bend them over and get future 1st since they don't have any 2nds.
    • I sometimes question why the mention height when most edge defenders are around 6'2.   Maybe it's bc he was a senior and then are nitpicking.
